I noticed our database mentions purple based foliage as a characteristic of TB Dazzling Gold.

My DG does not have PBF, and I haven't seen it in other images (although few show the foliage base). The AIS encyclopedia does not mention PBF.

If you have Dazzling Gold, please check it and report back. Maybe we need to make a change in our database. Thinking

Sometimes PBF comes and goes on some irises. I've noticed some that have a bit in the spring, and then later it's gone.

I agree with Tom.. Because it's something that wasn't tracked until recent years, all the data hasn't caught up yet. I think it would be helpful, if in the future, the notations could include designations like "Strong PBF", " Light PBF", or "Newly emerged foliage only", etc.

Or even "bloom sheaths only." I noticed this year that the bloomsheaths of Daughter of Stars were all mottled with purple.

My bloomsheaths were also purple on DoS this year.

I have a couple with PBF that are interesting. Faithful and True has two clumps, but all came from one plant. One has PBF, the other does not. Shrug!
Does anyone know how to stop spending money on flowers?

It can be frustrating.... I had to confirm with the hybridizer's daughter that PINKITY had PBF, because it wasn't registered or listed as such in the AIS database (because the hybridizer thought it was not pronounced enough to be worth mentioning).

I have an iris I bought for the name, LOVELY LOIS, which I will forever wonder if it is true or not, because the data base says it has PBF, but I don't recall ever seeing it on my plants.
Evaluating an iris seedling, hopefully for rebloom

I'll have to watch the early foliage, then. I did notice the slightest bit of purple along the edge of the bloom sheaths.
Designating pronounced vs slight pbf would be nice in the descriptions. And I do like strong purple sheaths---makes the buds more attractive. Smiling

I grow Dazzling Gold too. I keep a yearly record of PBF on all of the plants in the garden. Dazzling Gold has not shown any PBF here.
