I'm wondering if the ads are pertinent to our location since I've seen two about Arizona landscape companies.

Yes, they are relevant to your location.

Also, they are relevant to content. So, as we get all of the conversation geared toward plants, we'll have more and more plant and gardening ads up.

The first ones are pretty generic until the content is there.

Trish is absolutely right that, in time, the ads will become more and more relevant. As the site grows and gets filled with gardening content, Google (who provides the ads) will be able to provide more targeted advertisements.

Google also knows where we are (based on our IP address) so you will see ads targeted to your locale.

If there are any truly objectionable ads, I can block them. I have already blocked all weight loss ads, for example. I have no problem with weight loss but those ads usually contain objectionable images.

Wouldn't it be cool to be able to add our own merchandise on a google ad? But no doubt, too pricey.

Not right away, of course, but it is something to put on the list of possibilities.

And meanwhile, everyone is of course free to use their signature lines (and now their member page too!) to promote themselves all they want to. You are a typing advertisement! (instead of walking advertisement- get it??? Or have I sat here too long??)

The beauty is that the more active you post in the forums, the more often your link to your shop will be seen. That's a win win!
