I was out today snooping through my orchids looking for new blooms forming and found some other cool stuff. Lots of my plants are putting out new growth.
I love to see the new fronds, leaves and roots unfolding, unfurling and coming out! I know then I am adequately fulfilling my job as plant mom.
New leaf on Anthurium cupulispathum. Has the pinkish/reddish bronzy coloration that many anthuria exhibit on new growth but these are so sculptural

another really cool thing about this pant is that the new roots are a bright pink with bright yellow tips

New frond emerging on a variegated Rhapis excelsa palm...the new growth is always a brighter green/yellow variegation than older growth

and a slightly older leaf that has not turned completely greenish yet

New growth on my Costus vargasii 'Raspberry Yogurt'. Such a neat plant, the leaf petioles and a bright blood red and the stem almost resembles the Buddha Belly costus but is pink.

Brilliant red/maroon leaf on this Philodendron...I got this as a trade and it was called (by the trader) King of Spades. I don;t know if that is its true name. But I love its new leaves when they come out

Gina, those are all so beautiful but I especially love the sculptural growth of that Anthurium and it's new pink roots!! Lovey dubby

We moved back to our home in Sebastian three weeks ago and I don't think we'll ever be settled! I've been down with a horrible cold for the past week and thankful it didn't progress to bronchitis as it usually does. I'm feeling much better but I still have a nagging cough and my energy level is hovering around zero! I did walk around the yard early today and it's staggering to see the amount of work that we have ahead of us. Hubby spent a full day chopping stuff back and trimming but didn't make a dent in what needs to be done. I yanked a couple more small Brazilian Pepper trees this morning but it's really overwhelming to know what will be needed to get this place in shape ... good thing that we are both retired and we both enjoy working in the yard. We can't work as fast as we did in our younger years but we'll eventually get it done. Smiling

Keep your wonderful photos coming and ... Happy New Year!

I hope you get well soon Lin! I know what you mean, my yard needs work so badly. All the dormant Zingers need to be pulled out and the azaleas cut to the ground and the refuse burned. But its so much more fun to work in the greenhouse Whistling

Nice Alocasia leaves but I really love the pretty color of that new Hoya leaf!

This thread is titled "Show photos of your new growth" and this isn't exactly new growth on a mature plant but rather a baby "plantlet" that I just took a photo of.

Just before dark this evening, I was bringing the dogs in from the yard and when I came back into the screened pool enclosure, I spotted what I thought was a weed growing at the base of the aluminum (at ground level where the aluminum meets the cement deck), on the inside of the pool enclosure! I really thought it was a weed that was growing through the screen from the flower bed. Anyway, I yanked it up, came into the kitchen and went to toss it in the trash when I realized it was a baby Staghorn Fern! We have a few large Staghorns growing on oak trees in the yard and during the almost 4 years that we've owned this house, I've found small Staghorn Ferns growing at the base of Saw Palmetto shrubs in the yard. Anyway, here's a picture of the little baby; I'm going to mount it to a small piece of wood and see how it does.

Lin that is just too cool!!! Tomorrow is my day for greenhouse work! I did my long 10.5 mile run on Saturday and a 3 mile leg stretcher this morning tomorrow is a day of rest. I am going to groom, fertilize and find and treat any pests! AND look for new growth!

Oh my, I can't imagine even walking 10.5 miles! Smiling You sure deserve a day of rest and relaxation in the greenhouse after that!

Sigh...I used to do a lot more. I don't like being older. I have a partially torn tendon in my right hip and 2 other tendons that are inflamed. I had a cortisone shot about a month ago, but that is really the only treatment...there is no surgical treatment for this and no way to treat it 'conservatively' with immobilization. My usually daily baseline run used to be 8.5 miles, and I ran 5-6 days a week. I always had one 'long' run, between 10.5-15 miles. If I was short on time or tired, I would do 6.5 and make the mileage up on another day to come out between 40-60 miles per week. Now I am lucky to get 30 miles a week! I need some 'NEW GROWTH' on my HIP lol!

Have a new leaf coming out on my Anthurium pseudospectabile, I love the glossy fragile look these have when brand new....this one is 12 inches long!

Now that's a pretty leaf! The only Anthurium I've ever tried to grow is the regular ones that you see at the big box stores on occasion. I recently bought the one below from a nursery in Vero Beach and it's doing okay but Anthuriums don't usually live very long under my neglectful care. *Blush*

Ohhhhh I like that one!
So nice, different from the usual red, pink and orange andreanums!
I was looking at my Anthurium crystallinum today, I think I am going to have to give it a support. It has a trunk with a large number of aerial roots, the trunk is about 6-7 inches now. I hope that the leaves will enlarge a lot if it starts climbing.
I found this on my Acanthus...I have never seen it bloom before! It was a surprise!

The new leaf on my Anthurium is developing nicely. I love the bronze coloration of new leaves, and the shiny look. When they mature they lose that shine

The new leaves are pretty! I haven't grown them in a greenhouse. The last ones I grew outside in the Marshall Islands. They all grew so well there with the constant humidity and over 100 inches of rain a year.

I can imagine!!!! I know I can't duplicate the conditions that most of my plants would grow in if they were in habitat. But its fun to try!!!!!!

I agree! I just need space like you have. I'm overcrowded in my greenhouse during the winter because so many plants have to go inside. I can't wait for Spring to get them outside again.

Lovey dubby that Acanthus flower.
'I walked the trail at Kanapaha on Sunday, it was maybe 1.5 miles, after hearing about your run it is pitiful isn't it? Hilarious!
On Tuesday we walked the trails (even fewer miles but hilly) at Rainbow Springs where I discovered I cannot walk down hill. Up hill is fine but they almost had to carry me back to the car. My left knee was not happy after walking down a very small hill. Lots of chatter around JAX about stem cells for arthritic knees and I needed a few that day. Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

I always get excited when I see new growth. Especially on my orchids during the winter season. I split a large oncidium intergeneric last summer and two of them are showing the most active growth! One is putting out roots fairly fast...

And I'm over the moon with my two bird of paradise. I also repotted these last summer and crossed my fingers that I wouldn't stall their growth. Both have new leaves developing. Here's one of them....
Thumb of 2019-01-12/sejod/516f0f I can't wait till they put out flower stalks.
