WellI should have brought them all back in but I didn't, it got down to 49 two nights and this is what my plants look like now, I am hoping (fingers crossed) that this will bloom, it is Purple Rose and the buds are definately purple

49 should not hurt them.I keep my winter gh thermostat set at 45.

Hi Doris, don't worry about the leaves, that happens when ever ther is a drastic climate change,leaves just didn't have the time to get aclamatized to the change, same thing will happen when you grow them in the shade than expose them to full sun, leaves get burn spots and eventually turn yellow and fall off, but new leaves will grow soon acustomed to the new climate their in, sometimes it happen to the buds also and sometimes they don't but they just fall off before opening, if your lucky, buds didn't get to damanged and open for you and far alll the rest of us to enjoy any photos you take of it to show us, if you get seeds from it please remember me, i would really love to have a seedling from that one'

I love birds but they sometimes become bandits. why I say this? I had pollinated some hibiscus and after finally getting a seed pod after waiting so long I pick the pod that was half way open and place on top of a basket I had prepered to plant them in, so I decided to get myself some coffee before plantting them but when I came back to plant the seeds a bird decided to have lunch and put my hibiscus seeds on his menu to eat, I think that bandit bird was waching me all the time and I didn't notice.
instead of me doing bird waching the bird was doing human waching Oh Well, they'er Gods little creation also. just have to pollinate more hibs.

Doris, that double purple is the dickens to get to bloom! Most fickle DR I've ever fooled with! Ha, I believe Mike has the same opinion by now... There's one that did actually bloom for me on the right.

edit: The other single on the left is supposedly purple too!

Mike has plenty. The flower is very small, and not easy! Most of my buds fall off--????? And then some get close to opening, the end of the bud gets bruised looking and it doesn't open. A pain!

But I bet Mike would sell you one for cheap real quick! hahaha, maybe you'd have better luck with the beastie.

Once Mr. Ko is back from China, and is selling on Ebay again, I'll see about ordering a bunch of Yellow Earth seeds, I don't have any of those, and I'll divide the order with you-all.

These are my latest, they are called Yellow Code, from Mr Ko I only had two come up out of 6 seeds, the largest seedling has a nice caudex, and also have leaves sprouting all the way down.guess you know I am realy hoping it is yellow.

I've been living with a fair bit of angst for the last month. My dad spent 3 weeks with us. The man can't sit still if you super-glue him to a chair. So, one day, he decided to weed the garden. He did a bang-up job of it, removing only weeds. Then, his interest turned towards one of big adeniums that had a serious weed infestation. I never rip out the weeds in my adeniums. Instead, I cut them off at ground level with scissors. That way, I am not disturbing the plant's roots.

While I was busy in the house, he ripped out everything he could find before I stepped outside, saw what he was doing and almost fainted. The Florida weather hath caused me to have a case of the vapors! I told him to stop that and explained my reasoning. He just brushed my objections away and kept away from the adeniums. That poor plant has lost 98% of its leaves, it stopped blooming and is looking mighty pitiful. That one has an 18-inch diameter caudex. I am hoping it's only a temper tantrum on the part of the adenium. These plants are known to be temperamental.

The end justifies the means. I will now keep a loaded shotgun by the front door, inside. Anyone who ministers to my plants is going to hear a big, vengeful noise. Helpful people around me is the reason I can't have nice things. AARRGGHH!

Sylvain I bet it's more the weather then the weeding. None of my Adenium are flowering (well, maybe one or two flowers on a bush) and mine also look pitiful, so don't be too hard on your pop. I seem to remember the same thing during last rainy season. This too will pass.

Bummer, Sylvain. The plant will recover, they are amazingly resiliant. You know that.

Is Pa gone? Three weeks is a loooong time! We say here, "You love to see them come, and you love to see them go!"

I pull most weeds, maybe I'll change that and start snipping...

Well the buds didn't make it, I guess our 49 temp. must be worse than yours JT, they all fell off and no sign of any new ones yet, but as you can see the buds were large, and I am sure they were doubles.

I'm so sorry Doris. I was looking forward to seeing pictures of the blooms. Maybe later in the season.

Do not dispair, these double purples are the WORST plants I have. They are so fickle I can't believe it. I don't know how to please them, yet. The buds do all sorts of wierd things before they drop off

Whoever bred, and grafted them for sale, NOT our Mike, gets a black star from me!

mine are doing good only one bud drop i did learn not to try to bring them inside to watch them the drop in temp they dont like!!!!

but they did take quite some time to flower. but so has all my grafted ones.
