Honey Bees in the Garden: April

By Mindy03
April 10, 2011

April showers bring May flowers, which means plenty of food for honey bees. Gardeners will soon be busy setting out the plants they bought or grew from seeds. And now that the number of honey bees has increased, the honey supers are being filled with surplus honey.

You can call me Critter number 2.
Kinda depends on where ya are.
No honey bees have appeared here yet.
Saw my first bummble yesterday - pollinating a weed so it could spread more seeds for next spring.
I apologized to the bumble and pulled the weed anyway.

LOL Critter, I've done the same thing to the honey bees here if the weed is somewhere I don't want it.

I'm helping a friend with her LARGE yard. This is the first year I've gotten here early enough to get some of the bad guys before the ground is so sunbaked they won't come out. I love the bumbles, but that weed HAD to go!

I love watching them and had a whole crew on the pink celosia I had planted in one flower bed. I've saved seeds of that one to sow in the wild for them this year.
