Apt time and season for posting pics of our lovely white/cream/ivory peonies just as some of our gardens are probably under some layer of snow or ice.

My earliest herbaceous white peony and a favorite every year is Athena. I really love this peony. If you have Athena, please post yours too so we can all see each other's blooms. Thanks!

Thought for years this one was Festiva Maxima. I have no idea what it may be, but it is still pretty. Smiling

Debra, I am not sure what yours is but it is lovely! I particularly like its beautiful large lobe green foliage.

Anne Oveson--actually pink but she'd faded so much by the time I photographed her decided to put her here instead of with the pinks.

Wow, the whites have their own charm! Lovey dubby
Mine are still very young and many have only one flower per bush.

Hey—in these color thread we should include a comment on any that are fragrant in our garden or if they have any interesting characteristics—uncommonly floriferous, larger or smaller than norm blooms, longer than normal bloom time, unusual side-buds—anything like that!

Beautiful pics everyone!

LG, glad to start these threads because I too get to see, enjoy, appreciate many peonies that I do not grow.

Miss America is a gorgeous floriferous peony. It is a also a pretty early bloomer for me too, right before the mid season starts. Anya, I am sure the peonies will continue to reward you with more blooms in the years to come.

Liz, that's a wonderful idea! Perhaps, we all can make note of these characteristics this year. We can add these notes to our posts next year.

Regarding long blooming time I noticed last year and that amazed me that Mother's Choice and Baroness Schroeder had a very long blooming time. They stayed in their beautiful form so long that I had time to enjoy them (though never enough!) Hilarious!

I bet more of them bloom for longer for you, Anya. They probably enjoy the slow warm up! Even here in CO the late varieties don't open because it heats up too quickly....It'd be interesting to compare!

Liz, probably it is right though our summers vary a lot and 1-2 weeks of very hot weather is not unusual. Sometimes this weather comes back so it can be very different. I just notices that at least last summer Mother's Choice and Baroness Schroeder showed perfect blooms while the others blooming at the same time withered. We'll see what this season shows.

ST52, beautiful peonies! So pretty!

Thanks Anya! PE is a really great peony in that the flowers don't need support and have a wonderful scent.

Godaishu is gorgeous! I wonder how big does it get when mature? Does it have any scent?

It doesn't really have a scent that I can discern. The flowers are huge and are tissue paper in appearance. I can't imagine what a mature one looks like.
