The Cycnoches Jumbo Puff 'HC Sky' from Seattle Orchids arrived today. It is a nice size plant, but I was disappointed that the buds had been broken off. Guess that's a risk of having them shipped. My bigger concern is the leaves. They have some bumps on them, like they are textured. Not blisters, just raised areas. I can't see any insects. Here is a close up of one leaf. Any ideas? Could it be heat damage?Thumb of 2010-08-20/stilldew/626425

Here is the whole plant. There are 3 growths on it, the shorter one not showing here. All the leaves have at least some of the bumps. What looks like a white insect in this photo, above the broken buds is really a shiney spot on the back of the leaf. Not raised at all. Thumb of 2010-08-20/stilldew/5c3b2b

I wouldn't be concerned about the bumps. Something external (light, water, etc) that was happening during their growth I'd guess. Other than that it looks healthy. If that is sphagnum, I'd repot and check out the roots at that time. Roots are much more important than leaves!

Thanks Kathy, it is sphagnum, so will get it repotted.
