I purchased a Coleus several years ago it had a tag that said Kiwi Fern. I have brought several Kiwi Ferns since through mail order and local Nurseries and none have look like the first Kiwi Fern I first purchased.

I will describe it because this pic was taken back then with a 3.3 digital camera back in the day.

The border was yellow fading into to a distinct red and the center a vibrant purple. The purple is the only matching color of Kiwi Fern.

What is it?

Pecos seems to be closer, not sure about the leaf shape as the photo shows them a little more 'stubby'

Could it be Kiwi Fern with color showing difference because of the camera?

ValleyLynn, That was what the name tag said. Kiwi Fern. My problem is every Kiwi Fern I have purchased since this one does not have this color.

Wonder if it could be the growing conditions that changes the color? The leaf shape looks right.

Not all of them on this page are Kiwi Fern, but many are. You can see color variation amongst them. Could be camera differences or growing conditions.

I have grown the other Kiwi Ferns in the same conditions as far as light because I purchase coleus for the patio.

I suspect it might be the tissue culture of different growers before it goes to mass market. I am going to try some different ferts to see if I can get that yellow edge color this summer. Sometime chemicals can change or enhance colors. My problem is they are growing as green edge and purple center only. I am not getting that bight yellow and red coloring.
