Poppy (Meconopsis 'Lingholm')
Yes, they like cool weather. I read about them on DG once. A person from Alaska was going them.
Jo Ann, Patty's Plum gorgeous.
Name: Susan Virginia (Zone 8a) God is the only thing that matters.
Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Mat.6:28-29

Love those Poppies Jo Ann, you must be reading my mind with the all Poppies smilebox.

Springcolor, love your blue poppy! Meconopsis? I grew one once from seed, after a few attempts. The next year it bloomed and never bloomed again, but at least I can say I grew one.
Refresh my memory on how fast the foliage of the oriental poppies died back or do I cut them all the way back to basal plant after they are finished blooming? I can't recall what I did to them last year.
Cinda,
That Patty's Plum is so pretty. Have you noticed that the foliage is not the same on all varieties of the poppies? I thought I had wintersowed Patty's Plum, according to my WS records for 2011 and I went online and found that the one I have is Lauren's Grape. I could tell by the foliage. Its foliage looks more like in the cabbage or kale family and it is very tall.like 49 in. for one plant and 40 in. for the other one. I definately need to move that to back of the border in the Fall.
I let the leaves dry back and cut them off. Sometimes the winter crown has started so I need to be careful not to cut it too. I only remove leaves that are dead..
I have noticed different leaves on different varieties.
