Multiple angles is always a very good idea, I would think. And shooting at different times of day. One can always the delete the crappy shots. Smiling

I often do multiple angles if the color is not true.

This summer I bought tent lights with full spectrum bulbs. My first photo shoot produced good results and I'm pleased to have a good set up for the fall bloom.

What nice rich colors that gives you Kathy, and I like that the shadows are minimal..now are you using anything to
bounce that light back down?

I tip my hat to you. Thanks! How are you doing there Lindsey? My electric company just called to say they are preparing and it may take a week to get electricity back to normal. Not good news.

have you already lost power Kathy?
Or are they just giving you a 'heads up?'
It's just a nice rain here at the moment, a good soaking rain is what we needed, badly!
They are calling for 60 75 mph winds later and I am very close to line where it is going to
be in the 75-100 mph...that was the info I had earlier anyway..I don't have cable so am a
little out of touch! It would have been nice if one of the masculine members of my family
had inquired if I needed help, but they are apparently busy at one of the massive hurricane
parties downtown! I did buy a chain saw today, just in case ..I am told it's not too much more
difficult than weed whacking...we'll see!

You too Ursula. Can't believe they are evacuating NYC.
Lindsey we are fine and won't have rain til Sat night through Sunday night. I'm seriously thinking of bringing in all the orchids. Cyms are in now. We also have a generator so no need for backup water, fridge & freezer are on it too. They are now saying we could get 5-10" of rain which is the largest concern here along with power outages. We have so many trees around.....

I upgraded the Operating system on my Macbook Pro to OS X Lion and ( not a big surprise) my old Adobe Photoshop Element 4 does not work anymore. So I installed Elements 10. Rolling my eyes. Things used to be so easy - Elements 4 had a nice bridge which showed all my folders, had all sorts of other nice features, and the whole thing was easy on the eyes too. Now we have the "Organizer " which is bloated and cumbersome. Yes, I got the stuff to work together, but now I have a headache and have to stop for a while....

Kathy, no. Only at the last update Element 4 no longer recognized Iphoto, but it was easy to work around that.
You know, I was so used to my old comfy Application. sigh. Now I have to actually think and apply myself for a while..... Smiling

This is a very informative thread about photography!

For my photography, the camera I am using is a Canon PowerShot S5 IS, typical point and shoot, but it has settings in auto and some specific screen settings for fireworks, foliage, night scene, snow etc.

I would at times do first an auto shoot, then get another one in foliage setting. The quality of light also affects the intensity of colors, especially if it is being taken indoors. I like the foliage setting when indoors, it is more pronounced and catches other finer attributes of the subject, showing more texture:

Here is a sample:
In auto shoot mode:

This time in foliage setting:

Now if I have time, I would go into Picasa and do some tuning changes, adjusting the color temperature, shadow, fill light and highlights. Helps improve the shot a little more:

It is the simplest approach I can make, I do not have photoshop and just want to enjoy taking photos without being too bothered by intricate steps in adjusting the quality of the shot Smiling
