Good Morning Wilfed and all; if I could send you some of our rain I would. I understand what your dealing with Mike, I'm a little fortunate in that so far none of mine have any sign of soft caudex, but I'm keeping an eye out. What few I have in pots are also now on the porch. It's difficult to understand our "water rationing" at time like this isn't it.

Mike I'm in need of advice! Other then grafting tape, is there any other tape (like electrical) that I can use? It would seem the only way for me to buy grafting tape is on line, and I just don't trust buying on line. I've been to 10 or so garden supply nurserys, home depot and lowes, no one sells it! Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Nobody here sells grafting tape, either. Somebody said plumber's tape, that impossible thin white stuff. The Thais use plastic bags cut into strips, but I don't know what kind of plastic bags.

Wilfred., you're very welcome. I wish I could have seen your happy face! And I hope the plant doesn't-- didn't--- lose all the buds. GOOD LUCK with it making seeds!!

the grafting tape i bought is off line. i have tried to use plastic but my baggies are to thin they will not stretch like needed to hold tight and my zip lock are to thick they dont stretch.

i have seen so many master grafters and they ALL use plastic. I have chatted with a few on FB and they tell me plastic is way to go. They say depends on your type of graft you can use rubber bands to hold the plastic in place. A lot of grafting that they show is flat graft with only 1/4-1/2 in of stem. they cut there root stock and use a small piece of stem from another plant (and they dont have to be same size) they cover over the top and down on main branch and tie with plastic but this is where you can use a rubber band. you remove as soon as you see leave formation on the stem piece.

I just had plumeria grafted by FCN and Luc uses rubber bands to hold the graft together. i dont even think he raps with tape or plastic looks like he leaves it breath. BUT his cuts are perfect fit size and angle to create a good seal. I might be ordering or going to a wholesaler that might carries grafting tape would you like me to get you some? the place i order from i have 4 times before they also have grafting wax. cant remember how much it is i can check and let you know if you like.

i cant say i have the answer for sure but those are different ways i have been told and seen but most important thing is be clean!! like an operating room!!

That tape is sticky on one side right? A place I went to today had plastic that he said they use to hold a plant to a support! because it wasn't sticky I didn't think it could be used, but now I think I'll go back and buy it, or just use plumbers tape, I can't see the difference. Thank you for the offer, but I gotta do things the hard way first Grumbling My graft will be the type you cut the entire top off the caudex, make a slit and put a wedged (for want of another word) into the slit. That seems the easiest. is it true that from the graft it's possible to get a complete different flower? I thought the only was was to cross pollinate !

They have some stuff I used on a pair of DR to see if they would grow together. It is called Press and Seal made by Glade. I used a short piece and wrapped them tight. Still don't know if they have done anything.

when you graft a plant anything above the graft will be the color of the plant you get the branch off of. IF any brances are growing below the graft yes you can have 2 color flowers. all branches below the graft are original flowers of the rooting stock. I have several grafted plants that have branches above and below the graft and waiting for the blooms so i can see 2 different blooms on 1 plant.

the only thing i can say about the grafting tape is that it wont slip when doing the wrapping. yes it is sticky on 1 side.

good luck

Just bought 10 seeds online and 6 out of the 10 have germinated. Is it usual that not all of the seeds will germinate. Disappointed I didn't get all of them to grow. This is my first time growing anything from seed. Would love additional seeds if anyone has any😊

Hey all,
Was searching on Google regarding seed shells ( I was trying to help the seedling but looks like I should have waited) got this old post which shares a lot about seed germination and seedlings .
They have suggested plumber's tape for Grafting , didn't hear this before.

@Aashna, I like reading back the old posts of other members too. Don't worry, in time your seedlings will grow leaves. I think your lack of light might be hindering their growth. But abrupt change of light could kill then too.

Yeah @Gigiplumeria, thanks for your kind words . Looks like light is the culprit . Ok I have a doubt . Pl imagine this scene .
Direct sun coming inside my apartment from 2 to 5.30 . Balcony has a huge glass. So the sun coming inside through glass and if I keep seedlings at 6 feet from the glass of balcony and evening sunrays around 5.30 which is not very strong as it sets around 6 , if these rays reach seedlings will this be considered direct sun or indirect sun as there is a huge glass in betwee . Phew . I don't know whether I am clear in explaining Thinking Confused

I have very few plants indoors so I can't comment on that. Hopefully other members that grow seeds indoors can help.
