I played with an automatic setting today (sports setting with manual focus) so I could shoot some bird pics. I finally gave up on buying a $1,000 lens for birding, stuck a bird feeder by the window in fall, removed the screen, and washed the window so I could get some close ups of birds this winter. Here are some from today.

Great bird shots Kathy. This is the stray that showed up in our garage this summer and has since been adopted. He is checking a retired Christmas tree ornament that I put out to see if it might attract a Cardinal (no luck so far). He has to check out everything to see if he can play with it. If it is on the counter and it will move, it quite often ends up on floor so he can play with it, apples, grapes, cell phone, sheet of paper, you name it, his favorite is an almond still in the shell.

If only I/he could convince our 17 year female about the lovable part, she has not accepted him after 8 months, they have to live in separate parts of the house. His only interest in birds seems to be to watch them intently as they flit around. He has to reach out with his paw and touch everything to see if it will move. Not sure how old he is, but he definitely in his entertaining period.
