Last fall I purchased 3 peonies from Mama Jacks on Cubits. My dad had a row of peonies alongside the house where I grew up, and for the fist time ever, I thought I would give them a try.

Well, even after the way too mild winter, the hot March, and the frigid April, I have a single bud on each peony - Coral Sunset, Hot Chocolate, and Bartzella. I truly wasn't expecting any blooms this year, and now I will have the opportunity to see all three of them bloom.

Coral Sunset bloomed today, and I LOVE it. Unfortunately, I left my camera in North Dakota this weekend, and unless I can figure out how to get the photo from my phone to this thread, I can't post a picture.... yet.

This is just so neat! (and thanks for letting me 'brag' only other gardeners truly understand!) ~Jan

Don't feel bad, the hosta group I belong to took a bus trip up to Klehm's in Wisconsin yesterday. I came home with five tree peonies from there. Then we went to the Flower Factory and I came home with four herbaceous peonies from there. Now I need to figure out where to put them. Smiling Oh yeah, I also got a couple Japanese Maples at Klehms, too.... I LOVE IT!! Smiling LOL

Jan, if you are on Facebook, Lucas Hudson had been up-loading pictures of peonies as they were blooming on the Hollingsworth Nursery page. And so, I now have Command Performance on order. Smiling LOL

Gee thanks!

By the way, here is a picture of the single flower I had on Bartzella this week. I am thrilled that I got a single blossom when I wasn't expecting any

This is the garden it is located in, I call it the Eagle Garden because of my beautiful eagle I have in there (it was made by a friend, and has a 6 foot wingspan) You can just see it in the far corner,

What a gorgeous 'Bartzella' blossom. Bart, as I so lovingly refer to her as, gets bigger and better every year. Great peony to have!

Was going to get a Bartzella last year from mamajack, along with some others, but had to cancel all my orders. Thank you for letting me enjoy vicariously. Big Grin

I got Bart from MamaJack - and have been pleased as punch this year. If you can do so this year, I highly recommend getting them from her Cubits sale.

And I have that eagle because the eagle is my spirit guide. I bought it after going through a tough personal time. A guy at work made it for me. It has a 6 foot wingspan and I just love it. Wish I could afford a few more around my yard. ~Jan
