That's because it's also added in the additional cultivar name section for each the main Knock Out entry.

I know some like it, but it does nothing for me. The pink double one is the best one. The yellow one is the worst.

It actually isn't. I added it only to the main Knock Out rose because I got tired of people telling me Knockout wasn't in the database, so a search for knockout will only bring up one rose and a multitude of daylilies.

"Also referenced as" is not enough to make it an official name, Toni, but I added it anyway to cut down on the nuisance factor. I wouldn't usually add misspellings as official alternative names.

No one's editing the members' spelling, Clint, and the only reason I picked on the misspelling in the article is that I knew it would complicate a search for the series. Sue tried to avoid that by adding links to all of the Knock Out roses in her comment on the article.

I personally appreciate the landscaping features of the Knock Out series, but I also have to admit there's no rose I hate. Even Baronne Prevost, which irritates me no end with its susceptibility to black spot, mildew, rust, and every type of pest damage, produces gorgeous blooms that compensate for all of those irritating features.

It's hard to believe that many people are searching for Knockout or Knock Out. They are so common now. People should see them every single day in almost every cookie cutter yard with the Stella D'Oro Ditch Lilies. A lady across the street was bragging about her Knock Out roses. In my mind I thought, "Anybody can grow those!" Sorry if I offended anyone with my Knock Out venting. Group hug

My Knock Outs are the worst roses I have. Seriously.

Okay, they're big. The shape of the bush is good without much pruning.

When they decide to flower they have quite a few, but the rest of the time they just look ugly. They certainly don't bloom well (for me, at least) all summer long.

That being said, I still appreciate their burst of bright color since they typically bloom in between flushes of my other roses. Smiling When/if space becomes an issue though, out they'll go.

They kinda remind me of how the Simplicity rose was marketed back in the day. A lot of people I knew around here bought those as landscape plants and now they are all gone. I wonder if the same will happen to the Knock Out rose.

They do nothing for me, but I bet my mom would like them better than the Green rose. But that's not saying much.

Ooooh! Nice! I thought Joseph's Coat was only available as a climber? I had one outside my bedroom door in SoCal....made using that door a bit of a challenge! Hilarious!

now if they developed a "blue" knock out, then watch out. I'd be getting a ton of them as they're one of the most dependable roses here in our area. Almost ever single city-scaped area has a gazillion knock outs in the area 'cuz they don't give a hoot about watering or cold or anything.

Woofie - I have a Joseph's Coat that refuses to grow taller than 18". It's supposed to be a climber, but just won't get any taller than that in the 3 years it's been in the ground, which is good 'cuz it's right smack in the middle of my yard where I really can't have a climber. Big Grin However, my Picante, which is only supposed to get like 2-3' per Certified Rosers (I called them up) and it's over 5' tall.

I still have a whole hedge of Pink Simplicity roses and a couple of red ones scattered around the property. They're still going strong after 25 years.

Zuzu - I ordered for my mom 6 (or 8? can't remember now) Yellow Simplicity roses straight from JP for mother's day a few years ago.. not one of them survived. I'll blame 85% on JP & 15% on my mom.. she can kill almost anything. I have 1 Lavender Simplicity that survived the winter, hoping to see it bloom soon!

My mom can kill anything too. I gave her Hens n Chicks and she killed them. I gave her some new ones and told her not to ever touch them or water them. All she had to do was look at them. They are living now for sure.

Don't have that many roses, and Knock Outs are perfect for some people. However, I am not personally fond of them, either. They are nice for the 'hell' strips coming in and out of the shopping center. Our city is using them as drought-tolerant landscaping for medians and such. But they look kind of scabulous when all those blooms fade at once. (Yes, I made up that word, but it IS descriptive, isn't it? Hilarious! ) Besides, I tend to look for roses with few thorns and/or that are best as stand-alones or accents for combination plantings. Big Grin

Hmmm, "scabulous." I like that. A cross between "scabrous" and "fabulous." Hilarious! Something that is fabulously scabrous? Hilarious!
