Love the red on this mini Macroclinium manabinum. It's an Oncidium from Ecuador.

I had posted my small Mediocalcar decoratum the other day into the mini thread. I had added a small piece to a treefern ring a couple of years ago.
http://cubits.org/orchids/thre...
It seemed like a good idea to take a picture from the top down to also show the two seedlings of Paph Lynn Cassidy
(Black Currants x Macabre 'Candor Blackheart' HCC/AOS) in that ring:
About 5 or 6 years ago I tried my hand on a flask of Paph seedlings. I just wanted to see if I could grow them up. I un-flasked about 30 tiny seedlings that time. Through the years I kept losing some here and there and this year I am finally looking at two decent looking, blooming size survivors.
Kinda puts into perspective how good professional growers are?

Thanks Kathy.
You know, around the second year or so I had them in a mixture which included Sphagnum. Big mistake!! I had the ring in Summer outside in the cage and I was wondering why the plants were a couple of times uprooted and some were damaged. It seems birds love to line their nests with Sphagnum...that was a major set- back.
Now I really would like to see those two blooming.

Appendicula elegans hasn't stopped blooming since I bought it in March 2009, but then the blooms are soo tiny. I would consider the growth a lot more interesting then the flowers.
