Funny now, not so funny then!

The raffle ticket window is now closed! 607 tickets were bought by 45 members, making this by far our biggest raffle yet.

wow - I wonder if it was the fact that it is a painting by Sharon or the increased advertising for the raffle that made the numbers jump!
My money is on the painting!

The advertising was the same as always. It was the painting. Everyone loves it and everyone wants it. The beautiful and exotic Gloriosas by jmorth helped, too!

Wait!! Oh Wait!! I have to leave in a minute for Nashville and won't be back till mid afternoon.

I thought I'd have another look at the painting but when I go to the link it just says 'sorry this raffle is over' and won't let me into the thread. Dave, could you please post a picture of the painting on this thread too? Pretty please?

I agree. Except I don't have any Gloriosa's but I've long wanted some! I can't decide which I'm more excited about --- the painting or the lilys. Any of the prizes is a gem worth having! Can't one person win all 3?

I can't grow the gloriosas here. I've tried & I'm just too cold. So I'll to figure out something if I win them (yea right...)

Ann - That's what I was planning on doing if I won them (fat chance.. not with how many tickets in the raffle sold?). Matters not, as long as everyone has fun - THAT is what matters!

Toni: You could grow them as an annual ... or dig the tubers at the end of the season ... or I wonder if they'd overwinter just bringing the pot/container inside after they go dormant? I grow my Gloriosa in a container that stays outside year round. The past two winters we've seen many consecutive nights with temp's in the low to mid 20's and they weren't killed. They go dormant and I forget about them until they re-emerge in the spring. I know that y'all have very cold winters there in Colorado but maybe they could be overwintered in a basement. Maybe if the soil stays dry and not subjected to freezing temps for too long, they might be okay?

I know in Holland we always had them as potted plants.

Lin - That's work. I'm lazy. Much easier to trade 'em for something that I don't have to work at, like a rose or iris. LOLLLL
