Thanks for the story, Mike! I love old bricks. Our house is made of reclaimed bricks from an old factory downtown. Some of the bricks still have the paint from ads that were painted on the building walls. We had to remove doors and windows to remodel, and i paid a bricklayer to take them off, and put them back on. We discovered they don't have the holes in them like the new modular bricks, and there were no metal ties, so the bricklayer had to do quite a bit more work.
We've used old street pavers, extremely heavy large pavers, to build our walkways. The bricks I love most have a stamp that says "Don't spit on sidewalk". A doctor in kansas convinced the brick makers to print that stamp.
