I often go to the Smith College Greenhouse. http://www.smith.edu/garden/Ga... They have a nice collection of orchids, warm and cool growing. I will be going tomorrow and will take photos.
Kathy, as you know, DD was a Smithie a scant two years ago. I should have been entitled to free orchids what with the tuition. (that does mean hysterical and bankrupt for life, yes?). Loved my visits there, especially to the greenhouse. Can't wait to see the photos. I might need to order a new Smith greenhouse T-shirt for Spring.
Thanks for the link.
Btw your Epiphronitis Veitchii variegata is a hybrid of Epi radicans x Sophronitis coccinea. I need to pot mine up again, after a few seasons they really climb out of their pots.
The SEPOS at Longwood Garden is coming up soon - March 26.-28. We booked a place to sleep nearby for the 26. Anyone else going?
We've just returned from a 3 day visit to the Biltmore Estate in Ashville, NC.
I didn't take nearly enough photos, the gardens are beautiful even in the dead of winter but I hope to go back
in the spring or summer to see the transformation! The Greenhouse had a beautiful holiday theme in addition
to the spectacular orchids in bloom! Sadly, none of the plants had name tags, only catalogue numbers.
Thanks, I was with my husband and we literally raced around the facility
I was snapping pictures like crazy, thankfully, there were only a few other
people so I didn't have to wait to get a clear shot.
