Sorry, I couldn't resist. We're suffering with 40s at night, 60 days, and DRY winds! Supposed to be 80 for SuperBowl Sunday.... but my orchids are blasting buds like crazy. Is anybody ever happy with the weather? I'm just glad I don't need to travel, especially by air!

I was thinking of going to Deepcut on Fri or Sat depending on Mother Nature's Storm of the Week. I was also toying with going to Longwood Gardens(SEPOS) at the end of March, but it's an awful long drive from the lower Husdon Valley to do in one day.

Bill, Longwood Garden/SEPOS is really nice as a two day affair. ( first afternoon vendors and second day the show,) There is a Fairfield Inn just up the road from Longwood Garden and they promised a discount if you are taking in the show. Besides, there are some good places to eat out too.

WNC Orchid Society, March 26 -27: This annual American Orchid Society judged show that also features orchid plants and supplies for sale by world class vendors. Educational classes will be offered throughout the weekend, and WNC Orchid Society members will be available to answer questions and provide orchid-growing advice.



The Smoky Mountain Orchid Society will host an orchid show & sale, March 5-6, 2011, at West Town Mall in Knoxville, TN. See the beauty and variety of the Orchids exhibited by various orchid societies from the southeast. Orchid growers will be present to give tips on growing orchids in your home and orchid vendors will offer plants for sale. Orchids on exhibit will be judged by the American Orchid Society.
Admission is free.
Vendor and Exhibitor set-up is March 4, 2011.

Illinois Orchid Society Spring Show & Sale
March 26, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
March 27, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The Illinois Orchid Society presents this show, in which individual orchids in 128 classes will vie for ribbons. Twenty-five entries will receive "best of class" green ribbons, and the best-appointed plant in the show will receive the Chicago Horticultural Society Award from American Orchid Society judges. Forty displays of orchids will be artistically arranged, and repotting services will be available. Vendors will sell orchid plants and orchid-related products. Visitors can attend free lectures in the Alsdorf Auditorium.
