I know this forum is for Butterflies, birds and bees, but it's the closest thing to a bug forum I can find here and I figure you folks are all smart about bugs.. I saw this tiny critter munching on aphids on a rose and it looks like a tiny mantis to me, but is it really? I see no wings.

It turns out it is an assassin bug. I didn't know we had those here.

Interesting name..it does look mean with its long beak...it must be waiting to ambush the little insect shown on the lower part of your photo Blinking
