The "landscape" photos section of this site is intended to inspire and help NGA members visualize different plant arrangements in garden settings and learn about the tagged plants. But, what about our gorgeous landscape photos, the ones that show beautiful scenery? There isn't a section for those photos on this site, at least for now. Well, while we wait for one, let's share our scenery photos here! Smiling

I'll start with a few.

The Saddleback mountains, taken from Lake Elsinore side, in Southern California when the superbloom started, about a month ago:

Lake Elsinore:

Southern Orange County, last November:

So very looking forward to seeing the lovely landscapes you guys have captured. Hurray!

NOTE: Here we want to share photos that we have taken ourselves and some information about the images we are sharing. If you need to add an image from the web to illustrate your comments, please be sure to credit the author.

Thank you, Frenchy! And you have the Potomac not too far from Falls Church, yes? There must be so many breathtaking spots along that river.😍

There is lots of beautiful scenery around this area. I have an old smartphone which doesn't do scenery very well. Hubby and I are planning to get a decent camera soon - then I will have to learn to use it. Blinking

That's in California, Serjio, the southern part of the state. To the east of those mountains is that lake, to the west is that beach. If you could go straight through the mountains, the distance between the lake and the beach would be 20 miles (32 km).

perhaps the mountains to some extent prevent air flow from the sea and create a special microclimate on the lake?

Exactly. And that may be the reason why the California poppies (all those orange spots on the mountains) only grow on the lake side of those hills. Coincidentally, today's site banner shows a detail of those mountains and the poppies.

These "superblooms" happen when California gets very wet and cool winters, which is not very often. The California poppies are tiny. I took these photos the same day as the ones I posted above:

And other lovely native wildflowers also grow on the mountains:

Wow, it's way past bedtime! Time seems to fly when I'm on this site. Smiling Enjoy your day, Serjio!

What a great thread! I think these are all taken last spring. First one is from the garden in front of my guest house.

Oh, Lola, thank you very much for that drink! What are we having?🍷😀

Love those photos! Your guests are very lucky to have such a great view. I've seen some wild yellow lupines in my area. What's the name of those mountains?

There are three mountain ranges in front of me. The start of the Great Western Tiers is on the left in the first photo above. In the third photo above in the right hand foreground is the Gog Range. Behind the water towards the left in the background is Mt Roland and Mt Claude, and way over the back in the middle is Black Bluff.

Hi
Took some pics today on my weekly visit to Clyne Gardens ( my spiritual
Home for 55 years ), this garden has been the source of inspiration in this area for years, it is not near full bloom yet, and my photography ( I pad ) is not the best.

This is Clyne chapel in the grounds of the park.
Rumour has it. Cathrine Zeta-jones and Micheal Douglas wanted to get hitched here, Cathrine was raised in this area, however it it didn't happen for securitie issues.

This part of the plateau is called the Stone sea. This unique mountain range consists of reef limestone formed hundreds of millions of years ago on the bottom of the upper Jurassic sea under the influence of tropical climate. It offers a beautiful view

Hi
Yes it is a lovely woodland setting, this place has been my spiritual
Home for over 55 years.
It's been an inspiration to gardeners in this area for many years, and will hopefully inspire many more in the future!!
Yes that's Billy my dog, and it's his all time favorite place, the gardeners
Here have always been dog friendly.
Here's a photo of the dog graveyard in the gardens.

Thumb of 2019-04-17/Meandmyroses/79d6f7

I will take more photos when it really starts to bloom
Kind regards
