I have posted this jynormus hosta every year in hopes of an id.
This was given to me in 2008.I took 1/4 th of it to transplant somewhere else.
It hardly made an impact.
It has a starting bloomstalk.

Jo...it looks like a sieboldiana to me, perhaps 'Elegans'.or one of several others. They are all very similar and not distinctive enough to tell apart, even in the garden. Nice plant and picture.

I agree I was going to say Blue Mammoth but the flower scapes were too high. Elegans does have the short ones, great guess Paul. Hurray!

Here it is as I recieved it in July of 2008

Paul: I am going to look at sieboldianas. You mentioned Elegans and I knew I had one in another spot that was labled.I also have Blue Mammoth there. All are 3 years old and have bluer leaves than my mystery. Its a rainy day here so I will wander thru the sieboldianas and come up with something.
This is my Elegans

What back savers these giant varieties are. I risk broken bones on slopes to plant them,so the weed population stays at bay.

That's fine, just wait and see what color the flowers are. Then you can get better ID. nodding

O K I will.
I am leaning toward Elegans even tho color is different. I also found Funka whose leaves are greener.
I have no idea why I am obcessed with the name of this one when there are about 20 nonames here.
I liked "redchick" who gave me the plants when I first joined DG. She was really welcoming and donated many plants to my 5 year plan.

Bless her heart, Lovey dubby you could also post them on the ID forum, there are some very smart people over there, walking encyclopedia's! Green Grin!

Believe t or not I got the best lead from Paul just now after 4 years of trying. I put it in the database but just sieboldiana because I am not sure of Elegans.I will give the ID forum a try.

It can become an obsession to ID a plant. I have around 150 Hosta and have had only one I couldn't ID. I was about to put it on here this morning when something came from the the recesses of my mind that it is Inniswood. As I think about it now I remember moving it from another spot in the garden. Then it was planted poorly and floundered for a couple of years. Finally I replanted it and now it is growing. I grow Inniswood in another part of the garden and compared leaves. Bingo!!!!! It is Inniswood which I love..

Here's a good one -- what in the world is going on with my Risky Business??? Confused Confused

Thumb of 2012-06-07/Christine27360/c204c5

Since Risky Business is a sport of StripTease and StripTease is a sport of Gold Standard... is this reverting to a Gold Standard???

I think that Risky Business is a sport of Striptease which in turn is a sport of Gold Standard. Your RB may be sporting back to Gold Standard. Cut the offending section out or it may eventually take over.
