Has anyone seen these for sale anywhere? Plants or seeds? I used to have it all over and now it's gone and I miss it! I'd like some ornamental, too, if you've seen that one.

I haven't been to Lowe's lately. They usually sell the plants of both purslane and portulaca.

I got my purslane and portulaca seed from Park Seed this year. The portulaca is doing wonderful. The purslane didn't germinate Sad

Too bad you're not near me. I have a lot of wild purslane in a pot with a plumeria. I *assume* it's edible...tried a leaf and didn't get sick.

Ginger, yes that is the wild - or weed, depending on how you look at it - purslane. It is delicious and very nutritious, too. I used to have tons of it; I let it grow as a natural mulch for a bed I'm no longer using. It really helps to keep the soil moist below and when there's too much, just pinch off the newest, tender stems and cook or cut up in a salad.

I'll look at Lowe's to see if they have any. I haven't ever seen the edible variety in a nursery, though.

Wow, we recently reworked the bed that had purslane and now it's popping up profusely! It will be a nice living mulch for the sunflowers and okra I'm planting there. Here's hoping all survive in this heat.

I watch for it to pop up in flowerbeds at offices and public places. Then I pick it, bring it home and plant it... Smiling Hurray!

Hi, everyone, I have a question. There is a big, healthy patch of wild purslane in the backyard at work--I work at a boarding kennel, so it is verrrrry well fertilized. Rolling on the floor laughing Nope, not gonna eat that!
If I take cuttings, will they root?

They "should" but I would dig a clump with roots attached if at all possible and transplant that.

Please let us know how it works out.

Rolling on the floor laughing My dogs used to love cherry tomatoes. One spring I noticed a weed coming up that looked so differnt from any I had normally had. Guess the dogs gifted us with tomato plants! I know it sounds gross but those were really great summer tomatoes! Green Grin!
