I think Dave has a very good idea there! I remember several people on Cubits wanted to be able to upload from their photo sites.

I'd rather not bother with photobucket at all when I'm at home and on my computer. Much easier. But when I'm "mobile" I can't post any pics Shrug!

It is real hard when you are 90% mobile. I am never inside with my laptop in the summer.

Everybody in the hospital is mobile now including the Doctors. Nobody is sending anyone to go fetch a file. It is funny seeing the doctors pullout their electronic gadgets.

I am online in doctor waiting rooms and hospital emergency room or on the patio. I do not think many people are sitting at their computer much anymore.

Ok, so someone walk me through this. Cinta and Monica, since both of you indicated that you want this, please help me by telling me how you want this to work.

My proposal is to enable the use of the BB code tag [img].

Then what you would do is embed your off-site image thusly:

[img]http://www.example.com/path/to/your/image.jpg[/ img]

And then I would handle it from there.

Is that how you were imagining this would work?

That's the iPad photobucket app options. I don't know what others might use with things like android phones.

Around 15 years ago, I had a doctor in New Jersey. I asked his receptionist if I could email them a question.

"Yes! We signed up with a service - you send them an email, they print it out, and then they FAX it to us."

Whoa, sorry, I'm not a party to this; my only comment was agreeing with Sue that broken links to online photos were irritating. I don't photo share at any site.

Sorry Monica, I saw your name on my screen and mixed you up with Karen (kqcrna)! My sincere apologies to the both of you. Sometimes I move too quick and I make mistakes.

Karen, I appreciate the info you gave. On the URL you gave me, I see the email, direct link, html code and IMG code. The IMG code is a BB Code and that's exactly the one I was thinking of using. If I supported the IMG code, would that work for you and everyone else, do you think?

I can use the direct link. But I am wondering if you will end up with what you said you did not want. If someone moves their pics the link will not work if they mark that folder private.

I was thinking you could set up a album on site to download to and they would not disappear regardless of what a person does on their storage site.

So I was thinking a separate download area that if someone downloaded to they could post that pic to a topic.

No because I will program the system to parse your [img] bb code tag, download the image to the ATP server and then replace the img tag with the appropriate ATP specific tag.

So even if the image is removed from photobucket, it remains here.

Sorry I didn't get back here yesterday. We went to the ball game last night.

I'm glad those photobucket codes helped, Dave. I thought I'd pasted the actual code. Testing

The codes I mentioned are for the iPad photobucket app. But I don't know about
a. what codes other photo storage sites might use, or
b. what codes other devices might use ( other tablets or any smart phones) .

I still don't have a smart phone. But while I remain a computer idiot, and still have a cheap old cell phone, even I have become mobile with my iPad. And we also have a nook and a kindle fire, both of which I use constantly to read books.

I imagine that's the kind of specific information Dave needs to adapt ATP to the use of photo hosting sites.

Dave, maybe if you started a new thread in this forum with a subject thread specifically about what hosting sites members use and what codes are available for different devices (smart phones, tablets) you might get more specific stuff.

I think almost all hosting sites should support the img tag, which is a good standard and it's what we'll support here. Photobucket supports it.

I have put in the code to handle this. Karen, how about you try posting one of your photo bucket images here? Use the [img] tag that they give you!
