Does anyone fertilize their lilies with a sipon system. You attach it to your garden hose and when you water your lilies it also fertilizes them. I purchased last year a kit but it really does not have any detail instructions on the amount or type of fertilizer to use. I know you should use at least a five (5) gallon bucket filled with mixed fertilizer and water.

The proportioning system is really no different than a Miracle-Gro hose end sprayer or an Ortho Dial n Spray. Although, I suspect yours is more accurate. They suck a small amount to be mixed with the water going out the garden hose, too.

In fact the Dial n Spray is what I use for foliar application of Epsom salt. (One needs to do some extra calculating, since the Epsom salt is not a liquid, but it can be done.)

And since I am buddies with the Scotts/Ortho/Miracle-Gro rep at the store where I work, I have the old style of Miracle'Gro hose end applicator, too, so I can attach a hose (or whatever) on either end. My seedling lilies that are in pots are fiertilized with it.

Unless it tells you at what proportion the siphon is siphoning, that's not a good thing. How will you know how much of anything to put in? As far as what type of fertilizer to use, that will depend on your needs.

I do, yes, but you really need the instructions to tell you the rate. I use it with my overhead sprinklers in the sale iris gardens.
