started today, Febr 10. at Dearborn Market/ Holmdel NJ, and it is ongoing to Sunday the 13.
We spent a few hours today at this beautiful bright glass enclosure looking at vendor tables and enjoying the show. The judges were still at work picking out plants and placing ribbons. The exhibits were not yet labeled either.
I took a few pictures, hope you enjoy! Smiling

OMG! Beautiful, Ursula! Around here, we no longer have real shows, with displays. We have two orchid shows per year in Orange County, and they are basically just vendors, in cramped courtyards or crowded malls. At the one just past, I never even found the area for judging. San Diego has a decent show, but not a great venue, and I've yet to travel to Santa Barbara, which is supposed to be good. We do have the "Spring Garden Show" in April, that has nice displays on the ground level, and venders on 2 &3, where the local orchid growers all have their booths, but no Orchid displays.
Thank you for the great photos of all that eye candy! Lovey dubby

You are welcome!! It was/is certainly colorful. I always look forwards to this Show.
And as the sun warmed up the greenhouse, it started to smell really nice, several vendors had placed very large plants of Dendrobium kingianum into their exhibits!

Absolutely great show!! I had long conversations but I need to go to bed and get up at 5:30 so no comments now.
I find that the huge shows are over the top for me. This has that creative, but not Martha Stewart creative, look. I'll be at 2 shows in a row like this one. NH this weekend and Amherst (smaller show) end of the month, that have great displays. You've started my juices flowing....

Bill, you will surely enjoy it. And - the exhibits will be labeled then, which is nice! The vendors had lots of pretty stuff, I would have liked to buy it all, but my car is too small....
Have fun!

Incredible Ursula! Looking at your photos, it doesn't seem crowded (with people anyway!) and you were
able to get some really pretty pictures of all those amazing flowers! I think seeing that many plants available
for purchase would be very frustrating...I'de want soooo many of them!
Thanks for sharing this!

Lindsey, I always go early on the first day of the show if at all possible. It was a lot livelier by afternoon as we left.
And I am sure the place is much more populated today.

It was fairly crowded at lunchtime when I was there today. There were some beautiful diplays there. One could really develop a bad case of Orchid Envy. Rolling on the floor laughing
Here are some more pics.

This is Ham. Golden Harry. Very large flowers compared to the one I have. At least 1/2 again as big. See what good culture can do?

Bill, those are great! Thanks for posting. An amazing show. Gosh how many spikes on that Cym???
Bulldogs is perfect!!! Where's Bree? She's gonna love those last ones!
Wonderful Den. kingianum, too. I think I have to find a better place for mine. I hardly have any flowers this year. Grumbling

Kathy, You wouldn't believe the size of some of the cym's that were on display. I don't know where people find the room to grow them. This show always has a lot of them and they are always perfectly groomed.

Bill, beautiful pic selection!
I loved the Piping Rock display too, I was very tempted to replace my old Paph Winston Churchill ( Bulldog) which I had lost a couple of years after growing it for many years. And those humongous Den kings are something else, aren't they?
Looks like you had a good time too! Thumbs up

Cyms-I know that they can be huge. Maybe they grow in a corner of the greenhouse. That's where I've seen plant monsters before. BTW, I just won yet another ensifolium on ebay.

I used to keep a couple Cyms on our glass corridor at work years ago. No problem with size there and they flowered beautifully, just the right temp to initiate spikes.

And - you will do well with your new ensifolium!

Nixon in China was intense! The music is amazing. Both rhythm and chording.

I understand. It's just, I have been fighting for years now to make room for these monsters at home.
