Another new Amorphophallus species discovered in the Philippines (noted on Aroid-L, Hairy scary). This one with a hairy spadix.

Thanks LariAnn. This was a fun one. I didn't know anything about the "hairy" aroids. Some of them, like T. hirsutum, don't seem any hairier than S. venosum.

Looks good Glen. Folk will definitely check in to see your pics. Are you able to leave in ground year round? I'm a relative newbie to Amorphs but they look to be another addiction. Cheers.

Evan, yes I can leave it in the ground all year. However, saying that, I used to have two others but I haven't found them in recent times so they might have died. This one has gone from strength to strength in the last three years. The herb around it is a native ground cover whose name escapes me at the moment. This is the bud today (10.5" 26cm). There is a smaller plant shooting next to it that I will move this year. The main plant will not emerge until the flower is finished in December if the previous flowering can be gone by.

Lol. You wouldn't believe it I have lost my sense of smell for 3 weeks now. I'm praying it will remain gone for the final unfolding.
Lots of thunderstorms and hail at the moment. I have to run and cover it so you will see the dénouement.
The problem is that when you are young your life it is ruined by your parents. When you are older it is ruined by your children.

Evan, Blue-tonged Lizard Tiliqua scincoides. It is a broad, very large skink and a live-bearer. The tongue is protruded in a threat display. This one is resident in my garden. One of those wonderful reptiles that eats snails!!

Some of the threat display images are downright comical Glen. Crunch slurp must be a satisfying sound for a gardener. You're area looks like a great mix of development and reserves and a wonderful natural harbor.
