I have an old very double bright red peony that blooms early, often before Memorial Day. I don't know the name, but they are found in most of the farmhouse yards around here. I need to move it as it has become overrun with roses and goldenrod - don't ask, this place is an amazing collection of old plants in awkward places. I will have to move it now, as I know where it is at the present, but I have moved things before and had fairly good success. If anyone can help me with the name and any other information, I would appreciate it.

If you can mark their locations and wait about 4 months, you will have better luck with the digging and dividing process. Most of the experts recommend early September to early October for moving the regular peonies. Most of the major peony vendors have good information sections on caring for peonies and they all tell the same story.
