What a wonderful parade, Kassia. i love how you showed the whole rose bush on some of the shots. I ordered some of the same ones from Palatine and they are growing so well. Next year, I'll be ordering ones that you just showed us! You should get a commission, or maybe Palatine should be using your photos. oh how I wish I could see your garden in person. What loveliness. Good job with the photos and descriptions, too. Very enjoyable photo album. Thumbs up

Another Gorgeous - totally worth having rose.... South Africa - I literally cried last year when I saw the damage the voles did... I called Palatine crying to get a new one and they did not have it... so this year I got a new one, planted and it has not bloomed yet... but the old one has recovered amazinly and I am so happy I have 2 now...

You must make the voles very happy! I bought this rose this year.. hasn't bloomed yet, but I'm waiting patiently! I don't know what I like more in this picture, the size & color of the bloom or your gorgeous nails!!

Cindi - I agree I agree I agree

Thanks Cindi! You will love it... One thing I realize is that those roses really need space to grow. Maybe its because when I see them in the winter and all I see are the branches and other plants are basically dormant and I usually think I can plant them closer... oh well every year is the same - they grow and I keep thinking why didn't I planted them farther away? Well, be smarter them me if you have the space... fill in with maybe cosmos so they will end and you will have the room...

I am telling you those Fairy Tales are really great roses... love it... I am really in love with Summer Sun & Queen of Hearts also... they are gorgeous too...

Toni - thanks... I am totally sold on South Africa... totally gorgeous... I don't know about you guys but I have this feeling of awe and that rose just feels my heart... I look out of the window just to see her... love it... right now they are surrounded by daisies ... it's really cute... in July I may take all the buds because it will be japanese beattles season and I refuse to feed them... and all the Painter's Pallets and Purple Cone Flowers will fill in and I will have some more blooms in Aug & Sep... not as many but still enough to make you smile...

I love weird color nail polish... ... this one is rather gorgeous... it's bright purple... this week I have roses decals ... love doing nails... Thanks...

Kassia - I love the bright non-red/pink nail polish, but with my nails always torn up from digging/weeding (even though gloves), I give up on trying to keep them painted. Plus if I see them peeling, I usually pick the color off anyways. I had all these funky fun colors (electric blue, neon green, lots of different purples!), I still have a hunter orange and my Glow-In-The-Dark polish, but never paint my nails any more.

Toni,
I usually wear gloves - not all the time - but I have to or my hands will be so horribly dry it hurts. I can't see it peeling either... I get very OCD!!!! but one thing I find is that the polish actually protects my nails... but since I cut the cuticles very deep (its a Brazilian way!) and I started doing it when I was young if I don't do my nails they actually hurt and I start eating them... I am really weird on this!!!!

My pompon fairy Tale never opens either, but I thought that was how it was supposed to be! I kind of like the unique bloom.
I tried to order several of the fairy tale roses from the RU sale but they were all sold out by the time I called. I'm hoping maybe Palatine will have them this September. The wish list keeps getting longer, and I'm giving my weak roses the look--shape up, because I have your replacement already picked out!
And THANK YOU for mentioning the size on Cinderella! I was saving a small area in front for it. It will need a totally different spot, assuming I can get it. Lovey dubby Is Queen of HEarts that large also?

Cindi,
My pompoms don't come even close to the pics that Sue has posted... they actually get brown and horrible... not a pretty sight. Banshee used to be like that to and I just transplanted to an area that gets more than 8 hrs of sun and this year is doing well... maybe I have to transplant that too...

Oh give Cinderella room... totally worth it!

As soon as Palatine opens in September I place my order. I usually email them in Aug telling them I will be placing an order... oh I love them...

Kassia, My daughter took me to a mother-daughter spa day for Mothers Day and I got the first real manicure of my life. I was so embarrassed about how my hands and feet look. I could not believe how my hands looked when I came out of there 2 hours later. Wow. I'm a customer for life now. They did a shellac? treatment on my nails with clear polish and white tips. It's been 3 weeks and I think they still look great. Because I don't want to mess it up, I've been diligent about wearing gloves. My doc always wants to see my nails, so I can't wear colored polish any more. I have a drawer full of wild colors that I used to wear. My favorite was a sparkly bronze.

My Roses Unlimited order came today and they look good, but they are nothing compared to the Palatine roses. Palatine will be my source from now on.
Thumbs up

Cindi,
ARE are own roots so they may not take off like Palatine's bare roots ... but I have Pearl D'Or, La France (which is struggling because the voles ate the poor thing).

Their roses are old roses and they have a place in my heart... by all means... I like own roots... don't forget own roots by Northland Rosarium... they are own roots and believe me the bands I ever got from them were perfect... love it... I got one Polareis, Katlyn Ansen, Scabrosa, a rambler that I can't think of the name right now, Burgundy Iceberg and I love them.... really great plants also...

Oh I love manicures... go forth sister... you have my total support....

Great parade, Kassia - all the more impressive for the fact that you garden in zone 6.

My Harlequin from Palatine is just sitting there. Maybe I need to prune back the peppermint that is now crowding/shading it a bit. One of my several South Africa roses from Palatine is the prettiest roses in the garden right now, the other three are growing vigorously and taking a break from blooming.

I grew Felicity from ARE when I gardened in NJ. It pleased me much, growing into one of the prettiest garden plants I've had among roses. I enjoyed the fragrant blossoms, too, though I did not take the kind of care of it that would have caused it to cover itself in blooms.

I love my Harlequin. I actually got it off of eBay a couple of years ago. I had to move it and now it graces my arbor over my kitty, Freyja's, gravesite. Harlequin on one side, Purple Splash on the other.

Thanks Steve! I love the new roses ... this year I have had so much luck with them... but I have so much black spot on some roses like Variegata di Bologna that I am amazed! never had it until this year... it was such a great rose... I am surprised... but it's life ... our very hot & humid summers have that problem...

Toni, I never got roses on ebay... I am going to look at it...

Few things I noticed this year: very few aphids - specially the black horrible looking ones... they went to the Black eyed Susans that are planted next to the roses! really amazing!
My healthier roses are the ones that have thyme and chives planted next to them...

maybe I am finally learning!

Kassia - I wouldn't recommend getting roses on eBay. You're taking a big risk there. I've bought roses 6 times and only 2 transaction were decent ones, and one seller was from England! That's where I got my Summer Holiday & Doris Tystermann. I also got Harlequin from a seller (longagoroses http://www.ebay.com/sch/longag...) and the rose they sent me was in pretty good shape for the price. The other times either they sent me a mismarked rose, a bunch of dead dried out sticks, or a sprig that was so teeny I'm surprised it survived (that's how I got my Golden Princess). The guy from England only sells in the winter, which is a very hard time for me to buy things w/the weather & all.

I'm not seeing aphids, either! An overabundance (not that I'm complaining!) of ladybugs, but hardly ANY aphids of any color or stripe. Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

Kassia, there's several threads over on Gardenweb about a crooked seller on ebay. I think he's going by Lentz13 now?

Great thread Kassia and I totally agree on how wonderful the Kordes Fairy Tale roses are! South Africa is on my must have list so I will be ordering it this fall.
I will have to take a closer look at all your images once I am back home from vacation, the McDonald's internet is a bit slow for enlarging images.

Sue, totally get So Africa! It's by far my favorite yellow rose. Its a strong color, the bloom lasts, and they always have some blooming... the new one of I got is doing well also...
