I finally have a few blooms!!!! Winter in CO was incredibly LLLLLOOOOONNNNGGGGG this year, think it's finally moved on now though after 10" of snow and just below freezing temps Monday and Tuesday. Got some weeding done yesterday and look what I found!
So I had to go look at Irish Moss to see what it SHOULD look like. Sure is a pretty one. That yellow is okay, but, you are right--it is DEFINITELY not Irish Moss.
Yeah, I didn't have to be a iris expert to realize that was a mis-id without even looking it up! First off the color combo is actually quite pretty IRL but I wouldn't have ordered it. Then I looked at the name are thought—no WAY would THIS iris have THAT name....I'll contact the seller and see if she can give me the right name and hopefully get the correct rhizome out to me this year.
Name: Marilyn, aka "Poly" South San Francisco Bay Area (Zone 9b) "The mountains are calling..."
I'm glad that you are finally getting to enjoy blooms, but just now?! That was a horrendously long winter, alright! May I ask what elevation you are at?
Evaluating an iris seedling, hopefully for rebloom
Any day now my tall bearded iris's should start to open. The dwarf are reaching the end of their bloom season. The first week in June is normal for TB's here in zone 5b.

We're around 6700', the northeastern reach of the Palmer Divide. The elevation and the fact that we're in a more rural area without large housing and commercial areas keeps the temps between 5-10 degrees cooler than the surrounding bigger towns.
