Great Charleen. You can sprinkle cinnamon around the base of the stand on the ground to repell ants. Or use cinnamon stick placed so they will have to cross it to get on the stand. We have ants in two hives and are sprinkling it in the top cover where they are to get them out. Won't hurt the bees. The powdered kind will have to be sprinkled around again when it rains.

Wow! Such great ideas and harmless to the bees. This is the first year I have seen so many bees and knew I had to help them out somehow.

We just finished bottling 28 pints of fresh honey. 14 frames from two hives. Some with comb and most without comb. Part I hate worst is the sticky sticky sticky stuff everywhere in the kitchen. But it's all cleaned up until the next time.

Charleen reason I asked you about the feeder is because LindaTX was asking me about it. So I thought an update on how it was working out would be good.

Not right now he's not. Press it out and strain it 3 times through different size meshes. I'm lobbying for an extractor though as I think it would be much easier and hopefully not so messy.

oh my that is a lot of sticky work ..do you like your fingers Rolling on the floor laughing
we have friends that bring us honey ever year they use to have their hives down here
they belong to a beekeepers group and kind of time share an extractor.
what do you do with all your wax?

Yep, a lot of finger licking on my part and his too. He usually gives the wax back to the bees but is considering harvesting some of it too. I'm afraid after 28 pints he was in no mood to deal with wax too even though I told him he could wait to do it.

We have a neighbor who has an extractor that will let us use it but they are currently busy with the wife's mother dying of cancer and we didn't want to distrub them for the use of it today. We will just get one of our own so we can process whenever we are in the mood for a sticky mess.

Robin you don't diet on this experiment. My friend is because she is following a diet her dr put her on so she will likely see faster results than I will. I have a problem eating enough food so I need all the help I can get to lose the last 10 to 15 pounds I like reaching my goal for this year.

Here's another link you might like to check out about honey and weight loss.

http://www.benefits-of-honey.c...

Cheryl congratulations on your loss. I'd ask about that diet to see if it would help me but I know myself too well. I have to devise my own diet because I'm a very picky eater.
