I have plenty of coconut waste so maybe I can make up a batch of coconut fiber... I have a small chipper /shredder but it can't do to much coconut stuff just to fibrous. Maybe I can chop it up a bit first... anyone else try this?? Do you put dried up coconuts in it also?

The guys who sell cold cocos at the market chopped some of the shells up for me with a machete. Pretty rough but it is better than the long fibers I got when I tried to tear them apart. I thought about a large meat grinder but I'm not even sure that would do it.

grinder blender none of that works the fibers are to strong dont wast your time......bruit sweat labor is what it takes or a heavy duity machine made for that It would need to be industrial size

Yes, I have several. They have gotten tall.. 50 feet or more and are a bit messy, I have been planting picabeen palms here lately.
There are many red plumeria in Bradenton and Bradenton Beach... mostly rose red. Not sure if that is what that is with the six petals...

Mike - they are a zone 10 tree. Unless you're willing to protect it - the answer is no.

Clogged gutters? Just put in a gutter guard over the gutters. A real no-brainer.

Sorry I lost this thread !!! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing I'm getting old,, I will see if I can get a few cuttings from them, I have an offer to them to have someone to dig it up and save it... maybe now they will at least appreciate it and want to keep it and I keep oooh-ing and ah-ing at it to them! Smiling

My plan for my adenium mix : 40% Horse manure to 40% poultry grit. 10% sand, , 5% coconut fiber and 5% charcoal (pond filter grade) Smiling

I'm pushing my luck with the coconut trees where I'm at Mike. I've lost a few to cold and I'm 9B but close to the bay and beach (about 3 minutes) so I get by.

Here is a close up of the blooms, the trunk is smooth not bumpy, grows tall and long.. around here we say it is a Miami Rose but we are open for correction. The house was built in 1967.

Hmm, I can just whack off limbs from local frangipani/plumeria trees that are close enough to the road, and stick them in the ground. BUT they must be fragrant!!!!!!!!!!!! the breeders who are sacrificing fragrance to flower color must be stopped! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I agree I too am more interested in fragrance than color. Color is great though, but only if it comes with a strong beautiful smell. I also whack off a branch if I can, stick it in a pot of soil and it grows. I'm eyeing one now that is next to a pharmacy I use, the smell is fabulous when I park my car. It looks like the house that it actually belongs to is empty but I'm not positive. I've rang the bell and no answer and I've driven by it at night and no lights. My next move will be to put the saw in my jeep and cut one of the smaller branches that are low. Whistling
