Perhaps someone will know whether the seed pods develop better or that the seeds are more viable if left on a rooted plant. I had eight seed pods (four varieties) that were on cuttings, donated to me last November. I was told to graft those cuttings (with seed pods) but none of the grafts "took". I think I ended up losing all four cuttings and three of the four root-stock plants as well. Those grafted cuttings were kept in my "Everything Else" greenhouse. The pods seemed to mature/dry over those fall/winter months and I have seedlings from those pods' seeds, germinated in May/June.

I don't know, David. That's why I asked. My only experience was with those 8 pods on four cuttings. The pods seemed to develop fine during the fall/winter months, but then, I have nothing to compare my experiences to.

Plumeria cuttings have a certain amount of stored energy. They will direct that towards rooting if placed in that position, or towards blooming if they have an inflo, or ripening of a pod if there is a pod present. Therefore, if you want the cutting to root, it is best to remove inflos and pods.

Great information, Hetty. Since none of my cuttings seem to root during the fall and winter months, I simply left those pods intact. The grafting attempt is what did the cuttings in.

Well, those seeds above were left on the tree over the winter, enclosed in pantyhose, and I finally got to harvest them tonight. My tree looks much better without the pantyhose. Rolling on the floor laughing Guess now I'll go learn about how to germinate the seeds.

Both my pinks will bloom any day now, including the first bloom on the Flamingo Robert sent me (see early part of this thread). I can't wait to see it! Will post a picture. I'll actually be able to see this one!

Still wondering what to think about that yellow NOID that has branched but never bloomed. I repotted and it's growing like crazy, but no sign of an inflorescence. Is it too late in the year to cut one of the branches and start a new one?

In my opinion, this is the ideal time to take cuttings and root them, Pattie. I just took 22 cuttings two days ago.
