This is what i found when i checked my epi rootings!!!
Lucky for me (i hope) the tip of the only new leaf wasn't eaten!! I found it in the flower bed i have my potting cuttings in.

If i can root the tip that was left, I need advice or rather a how to lesson on how to do it and what to do it in.(type of soil & amount of moisture).

Please any help will be greatly appreciated

Sheesh, they're bold, aren't they? Don't they know those plants are *pricey*???

I have never grown Epis, and so if anyone with specific experience chimes in, that would be much better. My advice is general for succulents.

First, give the "cutting" (or biting, as it were) a chance to dry where it was severed. 24-48 hours. Stick it in your potting medium - do not water, but lightly mist it every few days. Someone said once that if there's no roots, there's no way to absorb the water, so it's a sure fire way to get them (succulents) to rot.

My question about epis is can they root from the middle of leaf like that, or do they need a some sort of growth plate from which to sprout roots?

I had 5 epi leaf rooting's mailed back in march i think.The green house sent them bare rooted.It was just one leaf with roots,i put them each in a pot and they have been growing so good.I did have one get knocked over and i made a post about it to see if it would be ok.The person i can't remember who answered said to stick the top half of the leaf that broke off into some dirt.I just now remembered that piece of advice and that's what i'm going to do.

I am also going to start another post about how to care for half a leaf in (what kind)soil.

I wonder if i can get an ID on my epi's with them as young as they are because they are always changing and looking different and some i don't know how the young leaves come from the parent leaf,they are opposites look nothing alike!!!

I'm betting the surest I.D. will come from the blooms!

Hello, hope not to late for this however, I have found a great page on this Epi Hybrid. I have a few as well and all budded , I think this anwsers so many questions, Last year I had 8 blooms on half the size plant this yr, two or 4 on each, I think because i moved things in my yard. This plant is the reason i have all the collection I do, and is to huge these days, however so pretty.
