Sempervivum 'Tree Beard', one of the 'Lord of the Rings' series.

We have some semp collectors wanting to collect the entire 'Lord of the Rings' Series bred by the well known American Sempervivum hybridizer, Betty Z. Bronow.
Here is what I think is the complete list, let me know if I am missing any:
Boromir
Butterbur
Eomer
Eowyn
Faramir
Fredegar
Frodo
Gildor
Gollum
Legolas
Meriadoc
Pippin
Samwise
Strider
Theoden
Tree Beard

June 20, 2012 Email from Don at SMG:
Hello Lynn- I do have a few others:

I've seen Legolas at SMG in the past. It's where Timberline got their stock from.

Yes, that is where I got mine from in 2009. I love that semp. So far I have Legolas, Treebeard and Eomer. All three are beautifully colored semps.
Right now Eomer is 9 1/2" across. A very large semp.
Treebeard is 7" across.
I need to measure Legolas.

Lynn, I just have to see a pic of these, especially your 9.5" Eomer. I have a number of semps that can get past 8", but have never had one get 9.5". Your green thumb again, I guess. Legolas (from either you or Chris) is a nice one.

Also, since this thread is about the series, could you edit the first post to put in the complete list of the plants in the series?

Thanks for the suggestions, it is now all in the first post. Does it look alright?

Here is Eomer today. Temps in the 80's with strong sun all day on it. Causes them to shrink up as the heat and dryness increases. I think it is a combination of our cooler temps and lots of rain. I don't fertilize, but rain has a lot of nitrogen in it. : )
We will be starting into real summer weather soon, in fact today may be the start of it.

Eomer June 20, 2012, slightly 9 1/2" across. Sorry this isn't a very good photo. Been gardening all day, sun is intense and I was shaky. This isn't it's best color either. It is starting into the red and olive/yellow stage. It has some very pretty color stages. Hen and Chicks (Sempervivum 'Eomer')

Here it is in May of 2012, just starting into it's growth spurt.

Boromir is quite a chameleon.
It is one of my favorites.

It is making a bloom stalk on just that rosette. Plenty of replacements. : )

Very nice Janice. How big is it across the rosette? Will be fun to watch it go through the seasonal changes.

So it is one of the larger semps. Did you put that info in the database Janice? It is helpful to know size of semp some times.
Thank you so much for the kind offer, but I am over run with plant right now. I need to work up the strength to clear out the remaining three 4 x 8 ft. beds, so I can get the rest of the semps out of pots/trays. *Blush*

Yup, it is updated. Group hug

I am having population problems, too, Lynn.

Those little (er...big) guys sure do explode in size and number rather rapidly, don't they? Hilarious! !

Same here Viki. I think I have some one Sat. to help me clean out and prep 3 more raised beds. Two of which will be filled with the semps waiting for a spot. Rolling my eyes.

Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Half acre is all I have, but at times it feels like 40 acres. Sad

I have been converting the last of my raised beds to hardy succulents and alpine plants. What a joy they are to see. Only three beds left for conversion. Not sure what I will do after that. Whistling

I have 40 acres. *Blush* But no way I would convert it all. Need my woods. Plus I don't need to feed the deer that much. Rolling on the floor laughing

Sometimes I can hire my niece to help me with stuff. Just working too many hours to get my stuff done. Then when I am home I am lazy. Whistling

I have 45 acres, but it's in another state. Since I don't do anything with it, it's MUCH easier than my 1 acre here. Smiling

It's been pointed out to me that I could make a lot more semp beds, but I really do like other plants too and have more than enough to weed as it is.
