These pics may leave alot to be desired as I was/am having problems with "the Beastie". I can get better shots. This is all over...looking at it while walking around it always reminds me of a checker board Shrug! low to the ground with skinny stemsThumb of 2012-06-21/gingin/a167c6

It's difficult to tell what the flowers look like, but the foliage and habit are similar to Houstonia longifolia

The main reason I think it is Corn salad is because of the square flower clusters, it is the only plant I have seen with square clusters.
I realize that the plant on my link is much healthier and stronger, and the one in your pictures seems rather weak, but the flower clusters are very unique. Check this picture http://wildflower.org/gallery/...

I assume the narrow leaves shown in the photos belong to the same plant?

Valerianella radiata has very different leaves if that is so .. and the flowers appear to be in tight clusters, but they are widely spread on branching stems in Ginger's photos.

Josephine...I agree the flower clusters are unique..square which is why it reminds me of a checker board. Mine is just wild in the yard and gets NO care at all so yes it's rather weak looking. I got some better pics...hard since the blooms are so small. Posting them to be sure of ID before adding to the DB.Thumb of 2012-06-22/gingin/b645a1 Thumb of 2012-06-22/gingin/55cd98 Thumb of 2012-06-22/gingin/d6d9ff

The photo Janet posted shows a very young and healthy plant, that is how they start, but later on the stems elongate and
and the leaves become very small.
Of course I could be wrong, but I have had that plant show up in my yard, that is why it looks familiar.

Can you get a closer shot of the leaves Ginger? If those narrow leaves belong to the plant, then it doesn't match Valerianella radiata.

Valerianella dentata has narrow leaves but the bases of the bottom leaves have some extra "arrows" for want of a better word. Hilarious!

Interesting! There's no basal leaves at all! If you look at Josephine's last photo you can see the stems come from between quite broad and deeply toothed leaves.

Back to the drawing board? Hilarious!

I'm looking at your plant - I have something very similar that grows wild in the back meadow.

This site has some pics of valerianella radiata that looks like it. http://www.wildflowersoftexas....

Here's my picture taken in April:

I think this is a picture of the stem.
