My friend says this is a miniature rhododendron.
It's only about knee high.
When I deadheaded it later, the flower heads were sticky.

Tho the leaves made me wonder.
Never seen a mini rhodie, so had to wonder.

Mountain Laurel is a relative of Rhododendron. And there are mini selections of rhodies, like PJM, but the flowers are all typical Rhododendron. You have a very attractive plant. I lived too far north to grow Kalmia and now I live too far south. It's one of those Goldilocks plants with a fairly narrow growing range. Smiling
