Oh boy, here we go! The Gaskins have put some of their seedlings plus new 2012 introductions on the Lily Auction, and they already have quite a few bids! Their new BRER RABBIT AND THE BRIAR PATCH is already way up there, and I see James Hall is on top for that one at the moment. I just love to watch their auctions and see how far up they will go, and there are almost ten days left! Sure wish I was rich!

Wait till you see what some of their seedlings will go for -- I've seen them up to $600 by the time the auction closes!

I love a lot of their flowers but they are waaaaay past my budget.

Betty, They have gone much higher than $600.00. I remember one time, one went for about $1500.00, or some such ridiculous figure. I remember it was 4 fans and there were multiple buyers involved with it. I think they split it 3 or 4 ways or something, several buyers. And this was for a SEEDLING!

I love them but seldom bid since I am always outbid.

They are lovely but I wouldn't chance paying that kind of money because they are all evergreens.

I have bought several of there seedlings on the lily auction the past several years, the one I won two years ago was like hitting the jackpot. It was the cross TAL OF GASCONE X SOUTHERN DAZZLE and if you have followed my seedling forum this year you seen a lot of seedlings from this plant. I will not be bidding on any of the current ones, I think I already have the best that works with my stuff.

James Hall has a few of their seedlings. There is one I will be using next year.

I was lucky several years ago and won one of them for $130.00, I think. That was before they went sky high. That was a lot for me at the time. It was so beautiful that I named it for my son Guy Douglas. It doesn't set pods and the pollen isn't very fertile, but I don't care, it is still beautiful. I also got a couple of others, they are out front somewhere, my main garden is in the back. I have sold a few fans and still have a nice clump.

Ive been watching them too. They have so many days left still, Im trying to ignore them. Getting in a biding war 8 days in advance always 'burns' me, money wise. I just have to wait and see how high they are later.

I really like that Guy Douglas. Im trying my best to get some flowers that have a white background and not so much tan and melon. Not having much luck.

Brer Rabbit and the Briar Patch is simply stunning!!! Which probably explains why it has the highest bid of the bunch so far.

WHOA!!!!! I actually won one of their intros, Pink Panther! I put my max bid in, totally expecting to be outbid and surprisingly enough I won. I'm giddy!

I think that's very good for them. I wonder what will happen with the plants they sold.

I had several lovely conversations with Mary Gaskins earlier this Summer. My mom bought me a set of their seedlings and I was going back and forth with Mary about what I liked and when to ship. Such a wonderfully nice person to do business with!

And what a nice mom to buy you a set of Gaskins seedlings! WOW!!!

Yep, saw it when they were listing them earlier and got a few bids in, but of course have been outbid on all but one already.
