Here is a great way to re-purpose that old wobbly step ladder that no longer is safe to use.

If I read Charleen's post correctly, picture a wooden step-ladder. Drill a hole in the rung, OR in the board you've spread between the front & back sides, and put a bucket in said hole. Could be one of those big 5gal buckets, or something smaller. Make sure the bucket has drain holes, and plant it with a cascading plant. You could do the same thing by drilling a hole in the top step and having the plant cascade over the entire ladder.

Awesome Vertical Garden!
Found you a link and picture.
Went to Lowes Saturday. I went into gardening dept. got me a bottle of fish Emulsion. Then I went into store to where the ladder was sitting. I have a new Smart phone (wish I was that smart) Rolling on the floor laughing Anyhow I set the fish emulsion on a Toolbox they had on display. I was taking a picture, which I haven't learned how to put on here, BUT, an old man was nosing around the toolbox and knocked my Fish Emulsion onto the floor. Oh, My Gosh!!!! It smelled so bad. One of the folks working there told me not to worry about it. But i was so embarrassed. The man said "I just open one drawer," yep he did but sure made a mess!!
folks don't call me Bumble for nothing. Rolling on the floor laughing .

When Hubby and I went by that area to go to check out. There was a lady cleaning it up. to make it even funnier, she had one of those masks on while she was mopping. Poor thing.
I felt so bad....
