Omigosh -- to the WESTERN KENTUCKY Botanical Society? That's my neighborhood. I've got to find them and see where those daylilies went!!

I Googled the 'Lakeside Daylilies in Indiana' and scrolled down to
their site. There was a page that thanked their customers and friends
and etc. I thought that the name I pasted above would be a blue
active link but somehow it wasn't.

I went there too, Louise. Found out that the Western Kentucky Botanical Society is in Owensboro KY -- a two-1/2 hour drive from me. Makes it a little hard for a day trip -- but if they have a good Iris or Daylily display or show or sale -- I'll head up there.

I'm so glad you mentioned that!! nodding

Mary Ann, I keep looking at your grey horse and can't decide if it's an arab, a TB, or an anglo arab?

LOL -- none of the above, Tom. *Ben* is 100% full-blooded and registered American Saddlebred. He's a little atypical in that he is from a family of big-boned, full-bodied Saddlebreds. Many people are only familiar with the sleeker, more fine-boned bloodlines. His registered name is *A Significant Other*. He's about 22 years old now -- maybe 23, I'd have to check his papers -- and he is a recovered EPM'er. He's very pushy and mischievous, and has a marvelous sense of humor. I should discipline him more, but he makes me laugh -- so I make allowances for him that I never would for the others. He's not rideable anymore -- arthritis, no doubt, and perhaps leftover neuro issues from the EPM. So his only entertainment in life is to give me a hard time!! He does a good job!! nodding

Thanks for the nice compliment, though -- Arabs are surely the most beautiful horses on the planet.

Wow, never would have guessed. EPM is sure a tough one. Did you own him when he contacted it? It's really expensive to treat. One of my stallions got West Nile a few years ago. I caught it right away, and he made it. He lost lots of weight though, and has not replaced some of his muscle mass since then. But he's back to normal otherwise.

Yes -- he had it when I got him. I got him in the winter, when the protozoa are dormant, and he wasn't neurological yet -- so I wasn't aware that there was a problem. It became evident the following Spring. Of course, I didn't know it was EPM -- had never heard of it, in fact. It took me two years and thousands of dollars trying to find out what was wrong. Once correctly diagnosed, I began treatment which at that time cost $1,200.00 for 28 days -- but was supposed to be guaranteed. A month after completion of treatment, he relapsed. I couldn't afford the drugs again, so I began research on alternative treatments for the dissease. I was flying solo -- knew no one dealing with this -- and had to rely on people knowledgeable about homeopathic products for people, not horses. Nevertheless -- ultimately became aware of and then familiar with Colloidal Silver (which was also very expensive) and went with that. Ultimately I learned how to make it myself, so I could afford to give him enough for long enough, and that saved his life. Along the way, thanks to the internet, I connected up with other people in the same situation -- and shared my belief that CS would get the job done, and we started a Yahoo group for the purpose of sharing that information. So -- lots of horses have been saved because of Ben.

West Nile is brutal. You're very lucky to have saved your stallion. IV Colloidal Silver would have worked for him too, FWIW.

That's good information to know. It cost me about $600 to treat my stallion for West Nile. He spent 10 days at the vet clinic. They used a combination of steroids and something else, I'm not sure now what it was, but he smelled like strong garlic for a while. Now he's good to go This is his picture when he was 2, now he's 17. You have to click the picture to see it, as it's a scanned pic.

Jo Ann....Bow Tie is a Paul Black SDB introduced in 2010. I'm surprised that you found it at an iris farm but yours look just like the catalog picture of it. If isn't there already you can request that it be added to the data base. I planted it this year.

No, it doesn't have a plant list on the website. I have been emailed a list if you are donating some so that you will not duplicate what they have. It is a nice garden. LMK if you go next year I might meet you if I am able. I know they have a daylily sale. Not sure about an iris sale.

Great Teresa -- sounds like a fun thing to plan on doing sometime next year. That would be a great place for me to donate some rhizomes when dividing, rather than throw them away.

Thumbs up It is a pretty little thing, isn't it, Jo Ann?!! I'm starting to add more SBDs and will probably add some of the "minis", too. I think there's a Bow Tie in my future! Arlyn

The jury is still out on that little Blue iris. My records show it first in my garden in 2010 and labled Borglums. I doubt it is BowTie now as Blacks description of the beard is different. I dont have a photo of the beards on mine so I cant tell if they ate orange and pale blue.
I begin to wish I had never had the idea to name my NOID's.
Its a lot of fussing for someone who just wants a pretty color in a certain composition and chose iris .

Dont jump all over me now,I'm old.

I just wont add it to the database.
I think I have the name for the NOID intermediate.Someone from NZ called it on the other website.

Jo Ann...whatever your little blue iris is it deserves a spot in your garden if you like it. That should be the final test. Did you check the description on the Iris Encyclopedia? It can be helpful.
