Tracey, something about Mussasi. The Colour--it's so beautiful in such a uniform bold, yet delicate way. Where did you get yours? I want to get one from the same source so I know what I get will the same 'run' as yours. Rolling my eyes.

Upright Regale. Deep rose reverse, dark pin stripe on mid rib, whiter than snow inside accented with neon-like lime green throat inside. I'm not necessarily a fan of uprights, but have to admit--this one's outstanding!

Hi Jo Ann. you were asking if that copper trumpet was Copper King. No. Here's how it came about. Back in late Nov of 2010 I ordered a Spirit of '76 mix from B&D--a dozen or so. It was not a current offering but Bob sent me about 12 mixed. I got them about the 1st of Dec with a note from Bob that said: Lorn, mulch good--it's getting late. Well, come next June, I was nicely surprized; there were nine copper tones, one pink and 2 standard, everyday type Regales. The bulbs each had a little different look about they so I could separate them into groups by 'looks' when I planted them. As far as Copper King, I've got two from Judith Freeman. They're young upstarts and one is just about open. I'll Tree Mail a picture tomarrow or post if its good enough.

So, here now then, is a picture of the copper you asked about as it's fully opened today.

It gives me such joy to see everyone's lilies! They are all beautiful.

Here is the Dutch OT hybrid 'Robina'. The first photo shows the buds yesterday, and the other two photos are from this evening. The fragrance on this cultivar is exquisite; just as strong as that of 'Invasion' but without any of the funky formaldehyde-like undertones. I also love the color. I expected it to fade much more than it did. The open flower photos were taken after an entire day of full, hot sun baking down on them, whereas 'Satisfaction' fried to a crisp in today's weather.

With every passing day, I love 'Anastasia' more and more. These huge blooms are intensely fragrant and look stunning in the garden. So refreshing on such a hot day!

First flower on 'Scheherazade'. Like its sport 'Silver Scheherazade', this one also has a light but beautiful licorice scent. This is a very elegant lily.

Last but not least is the lovely Lilium henryi. This beautiful lily is growing in a hot, drought-prone area and yet is performing admirably as a first year plant.

Not much difference when you get a hot, dry wind behind it. It's just a shame because the buds don't get enough time to develope full length and color--everything is dull-er this year. the typical blooming period is compressed also. It'll be over before we realize it--I think you said something like that earlier, too. 105' F all afternoon. Stiff wind 24, gusts to 31 MPH.

Edit: Walk around tonight: many sun scorched buds on OT whites and pinks and Oriental whites. My Div 6s have afternoon dappled shade canopy, no scorch there. Pictures are Garden Angel, Visa Versa, Hacienda
