I know that several people here would like to have Blue Whale, including myself.

I also knew that it was going to do it's debut at Youngs.

So, I have been checking the website on pretty much a daily basis and so far, nuttin' Grumbling

So I decided to be a little more pro-active and sent an email to Youngs asking when it was going to be released. I received a response from a nice man named Toby who told me that it would be at least another year before it is available. Sighing!

I guess we can all relax for awhile.

Think Toby has plenty of advanced requests so wanted to make sure there were sufficient plants.

I can tell you it is a TREMENDOUS parent. Some of the seedlings from it make Blue Whale look like a minnow even! Well not quite but some are approaching a foot in diameter and they are far from mature. At least one of these will go to market. One is the bluest I have produced. It's from Blue Whale X (Frost and Flame x Pacific Blue Ice).

I think Bev may even buy a BIG pot to grow this one.....

I have an unused horse watering tub that is about 3 feet across. Do you think that would hold one?

I gave my biggest pot away ( ~23 inches in diameter) to U-No-Who. I don't have accommodations for a U-No-What (Blue Whale X Frost&Flame X Pac.Blue Ice) but if it has a really blue runt of a brother, I'll buy that one!

I love what Melissa's done with that pot, Frost and Flame was a good choice for it and it is very happy in it's lavished container!
Glad you've passed on the news about Blue Whale Melissa, I to was checking young's semi regularly for it. Finally saw Black Lotus on MCG as an exclusive, hesitated to buy it for a couple hours then all 4 that'd been in stock were sold Rolling on the floor laughing

Blue Whale looked like the bluest semp yet from the one picture of it I saw, but Frost and Flame and Pacific Blue Ice are my two favorites in that category so far so I can only imagine how blue the keeper from those crosses is. Can't wait to see your new azule agave semp Kevin!

Did 'Blue Whale' ever drop on youngs? I remember someone saying it was going to likely be released this spring and I've been checking in once or twice a week, haven't seen it. Have I missed it? or perhaps young's decided to hold back another year. Anyone know?

I have also been checking and so far nothing. I talked to Tony about a year ago and he said it would be this spring but with what has been going on I can see why it might be delayed.

I think all of you who raise seedlings will want to use 'Blue whale' in crosses. It gives super big seedlings (10-12" in diameter) and really vigorous ones.

This year I'll be using the seedlings in crosses too.
