Just wanted you all to know that a dear friend of mine is going through a lot right now. Ramona is a lily friend who has brought a lot to many of our gardens through her connections beyond our borders. She is a wonderful woman. The last year has brought sadness to her and her husband through a series of detrimental health issues that her husband has suffered. She is spending all of the time she has with her husband as he battles cancer and has been transferred into hospice care.

My thoughts and prayers are with her. It is never easy to watch the ones you love battle and suffer. The announcement below has been released for her Fall catalog.

FALL 2012

Due to a family crisis I will be unable to sell lilies this fall for Faraway Flowers. My attention is needed at home right now as my husband battles cancer. Your business is important to me and I plan to have offerings in the Spring and hope you, my loyal customers, will return for my sales at that time. I appreciate your support as I tend to personal matters beyond my control.

Lilies offerred by Hartle-Gilman will not be affected, as they are shipped from Minnesota, not here in Maine. Those will be available as they previously have been for 2012 Fall ordering. Their listings will be updated soon.

I would be very surprised if she loses customers because of this ongoing situation. In fact, she may even gain some!

Let's all send her good vibrations!

My prayers also, Ramona.

I knew her husband was ill, but am so sorry to hear it's gotten to the point where hospice has been called in. I hope they take excellent care of her husband.

Prayers for many pain free days left.

Ramona, you sent me beautiful bulbs that brought me great joy with their splendid blooms that came for me during some difficult medical times, so now I wish to send you my best thoughts to you and your DH during your time of need. Patti

Just to let you know that my beloved husband passed away in the evening of August 2. I am hoping his last days were pain free but one can never be sure. His last words to me were "I love you too." My mother passed away July 28 at the age of 99. I am trying hard to move forward. I am blessed with many friends and family. Thank you for all your prayers and words of encouragement. It means the world to me to know you care.

So sorry to hear about your husband passing. Just believe that his last days were pain free, and you certainly know he loved you. Way too young though. So sorry.

Your Mom lived a good life to 99.

God bless your family, Ramona. You've had one horrible week.
