Please note: This is not the actual list of fall sales. The master list is in the thread:

"Texas Native Plant Sales & Festivities, Fall 2019".

You might need to scroll up (or down) to see it.

I'm not sure that I'm going to make a list of the fall native plant sales because I don't know that anyone pays attention to these lists.

Worth it? Opinions please.

Thanks. After I posted I was looking at a newsletter and read about 3 more upcoming sales. I know there will be others. Last fall I started my list after some groups had already had their sales so if I do a list then I'd best get on with it.

I think we got a number of new members last spring thanks to people googling for plant sales. Don't know if they stuck around other than to see the list. But ya never know.

Well, ever since I retired I'm just so busy. So I don't know. Wish someone else would weigh in.

Plus, if I do it, what format works best?

I think last fall I did it by dates within each city (town or burb) so it would be like this, for example:

Arlington

Sept. 22 — Molly Hollar Wildscape Fall Native Plant Sale 9:00 to 1:00.
http://thewildscape.org

Sept. 29 — North Central Chapter of NPSOT Fall Native Plant Sale 10:00 to 2:00. http://www.txnativeplants.org/...

Austin

Oct. 12 — Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center Fall Native Plant Sale: Members Only 9:00 to 5:00
Oct. 13 — Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center Fall Native Plant Sale: Public 9:00 to 5:00
Note: Members get first pick and free admission on Friday. If you join (on-site) or renew your membership on Friday at the Plant Sale, you will get 3 free plants and all the other perks of membership.
https://www.wildflower.org/eve...

etc.

In the spring I listed:

MONTH

Date

City (town or burb)

Sorry. Birds are hollering. Gotta go feed 'em. Can't concentrate.

Great. I grab the most popular food, peanuts, especially because I'm pretty sure it was jays making the racket. Then I fill some other feeders and come back inside. So what do I see when I look outside (which is quiet now)? A squirrel. No birds. Just a squirrel 🐿. Little rodent.

Back to the issue at hand, so far Frostweed seems to be the only one with an opinion on whether I should make a list. I know y'all aren't shy.

Ok. Here's what I might do.

As I recall, a lot of Fall events were more festivals rather than plant sales. I'd make more of a combined list. I did see where someone already posted one in the Calendar of Events.

This could be an opportunity for y'all to earn acorns. If I make a list, then y'all can add those events to the main calendar and earn 5 acorns each.

More later. Gotta go get my head examined.

Ok. I'm working on it. Slow typing and even slow copy & paste.

Please send me any corrections, updates, additional events in this thread or in a private treemail.
In other words, don't mess with the main Texas list!

I'm gonna sit right down and write myself a letter 🎶
Hoping it will copy and paste ok.
Since I've forgotten if the formatting will carryover from treemail to post, I'm going to start with a few events so worry not. There's plenty more to follow.

Are you at all close to AZ? Pretty sure I saw a few there.

I was telling someone about some of the silly things that google finds if you search for plant sales in Texas 2019. You'll see a lot that go back years which is annoying. What really gets me if google defines 'plant' as an industrial facility. Sale at the Ford plant, etc. Hate to see what google will find if I search for Monarchs. Smiling

In case anyone thinks I'm a slacker, it's true but not regarding my list. I'm creating a draft in treemail. Think I've finished September. Will copy and paste it this evening.

September is finally done because I stopped looking. I really wanted to get those done because it's almost September. Maybe the weather will cool down. Wouldn't that be nice. So anyway, there lots of sales and butterfly festivals in October.

Aarrgh. Karen, last night I saw a plant sale in NM but did I make a note of time and place? No, of course not. That would have been too easy. I'm sure I'll find it again. Probably tonight. Will let you know.
