I really liked this very well written and thorough article on seed saving, from a permaculture perspective:

Yep, I finally read the article and am glad to report I can't dispute anything written. (I'm such an arrogant perfectionist sometimes!) :>)

Excellent find, Dave! Horseshoe, arrogant perfectionism. The only way to be! I wouldn't want to subject myself to a brain surgeon who wasn't one!

Seedsavers is another source for information on seed saving. Still around after all these years.

Right now Im collecting sprouting organic shallots from the grocery story and seed heads and tubers from ferrel garlic plants for the fall garden. Looking for leek seeds.

In Canada we have Seeds of Diversity which operates much as Seed Savers Exchange.
They publish a catalogue of members' seeds. In the winter they hold Seedy Saturdays
and/or Seedy Sundays across Canada. They also have a special Tomato Project on the go
which attempts to preserve varieties developed in Canada.
