Despite the terrible heatwave for the last 2 weeks, we are all pleasantly surprised at the good quality and number of entries this year. Someone even grew Kyushi Maya in a pot and brought it. I was particularly happy with the number of Lilium leichtlinii stems entered for exhibition: all six were well grown. A few other species were there too, but were not so happy looking.
Two of the members commented to me how wonderful the L. leictlinii were, and that they were so large for a species.
Well I guess some education is needed here, 'cause while most are not giant sized, they shouldn't be dinky either. Still, their efforts are to be applauded, and shame on me for not bringing any...
