We had a bit of rain last night, too. The rain gauge said less than 1/4", but we had enough lightning that my new sod went from tan colored, nearly dead, to green. Amazing!
i know it would not have that kind of change just from the sprinkler system, so it had to be from the 3 hours of near constant lightning.
Everything looks perkier today, even though it's hot again.

Susan, what kind of Sambuca do you have? I had some granuales called Millorganite and I would just sprinkle it around the beds and the Hostas to keep the rabits away. It's a slow release organic fertilizer. I really need to get out the MG and spray all the Hostas, this is growing season for hosta roots.

Green Grin! Cindi, glad to hear you got some rain.

We're getting just enough sprinkles to mess up the dust on my car! Sprinklers going every day here... I'm glad to hear that somebody is getting rain!

Now I've been MIA. Volunteering at 23 concerts during the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival (and attending a few more). Then out of town for a few days with the antique Porsche to an event in Boston. Was gonna catch up on everything once I returned home, but found myself with 10 yr-old grandtwins for 2 days while DH was at a conference. Then a day where I volunteered at a food bank, taught a violin lesson and, in the evening, interviewed the two finalists for the music director job at my church. (I direct the handbells). Thursday, a good friend got married at city hall and asked me to play my viola to the 6 of us plus the judge. Then celebrating with a bottle of champagne in their hotel suite and a lovely dinner at the hotel. Wonderful, but not exactly helping me to get caught up on things. I started doing that yesterday and I'm sure not finished.

Have barely looked at the garden, but foliar nems are appearing and I had them in such numbers last year that I decided I would just have to live with them. I'm just removing affected leaves (or cutting down whole plants if many leaves are affected) and dousing them with a H2O2 solution. Like many of you, we've had drought conditions for much of the summer, but for the last 2 weeks we've had quite a bit of rain and are thankful for that.
Ann

I am still around, I rarely post or have pics from this summer. The hosta really took a beating with our 100s. I have lost a tree and that makes it even worse Sad I do enjoy seeing others nice pics!

....just venturing back into ATP after a long break.

Got home yesterday from WI, where i live for 6 months.... bad yr for most plants....with the lack of snow last winter
and drought this summer... many of mine are getting smaller.

One that i bought last yr... possibly Tropical Storm [that is what comes to mind] was about the size of a quarter this year... and i mean the entire plant.
I hope it makes it thru the winter.

I only bought 1 this year, Vulcan, to replace a liner that did not survive the winter. I took my mom to the local Landscaper when they had their bUY ONE GET ONE SALE.. [ooops]
and she picked out Revolution. I love that one, but don't have it yet.

I'm trying to amend my soil, which is very sandy with manure and humus... and something else, I just can't recall.

I'm hoping it works.....
