This may sound like I'm a traitor but I'm not in love with the bloom on many varieties of Hosta. There are a few I like and I think the best is Blue Mouse Ears.

O, that's nice. I'm with you about the blooms. Some heuchera are like that, so I cut cut them off. Makes the plant look messy. Could you do that on a hosta or would it hurt the plants cycle?

A lot of people do it on the young plants so it will not put energy into producing a flower, but put all energy into growing. Green Grin!
I don't even seem to notice till they have already bloomed. It is too late then, right? Duh. Sad
I was not impressed with the flowers either and only took a few pictures.

I cut.... I am going to harvest some seeds this year... but I am with you Paul - I cut them off all my babies and usually cut them if I think they are ugly on the adults. Whistling

It's not too late. I don't think producing flowers slows down the growth of the plant much, but making seeds might. So enjoy the flowers and then cut off the scapes - cleaning your tools between plants.

Some hosta flowers I really like. Some seem to be an afterthought. My 'Praying Hands' bloomed last year, but the scape was so short, the bloom was totally lost in the foliage.

If I have time and energy, I usually wait until they are done blooming to cut them off. The hummingbirds love the flowers and it's fun to watch them in the gardens. But once the blooms are gone the stems are pretty ugly...So, off with their heads!

Your's does look very happy and mine gets some dappled sun all day and maybe two hours of late evening sun. I got mine the spring before last (06/11) from Hallson's and I was very happy, I got a lot of nice Hostas from him. But this is the first time it bloomed, I love white flowers. Green Grin!
