This is what I see every day during the winter.

This is about a mile away from home & about 5 miles from work. Make sure you maximize the picture.

This is about half way to work. I'm directly right next to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's dept. The mountain in front is Arapahoe Basin (a.k.a. A-Basin). One of the most wickedest ski areas around. Very no-frills, but the scenery makes up for it. Again, make sure you maximize the picture.

Here's some of the other mountains up the chain.. Denver sits in a basin with rolling plains on the east and the mountains on the west. It doesn't sit *in* the mountains. Boulder does, however, sit in the foothills. Golden also sits in the foothills, so they can get that "Rocky Mountain Spring Water" for their Coors beer. Yuck. You can see the rolling clouds sitting on top of the mountains (Maximize the pic). All of this was taken this morning.. it was about 10 degrees when I took these pictures here on the plains. Up there, probably -10 to -15 degrees.

Here's a pretty good picture of A-Basin again. It sits at only 13050ft. I thought it was one of the 14ers.

Last picture. This I believe is Ken Caryl Canyon.. it's a box canyon right in the foothills. Nice area, but WAY too rich for my blood. Then people also complain when mountain lions eat their little foofoo dogs, bears break into their garbage, hawks & eagles take off with their cats, & deer eat their purdy flowers. Bah!

Sue - When I took these pictures, I was running around in a medium heavy coat, thin pink Converse sneakers, a denim jumper dress, & a 3/4 sleeve knit shirt. No socks. And it was about 10 degrees. :)

I never said I was smart. But I am excited that tomorrow's supposed to be in the mid 40s! Maybe, if it does warm up that much, I can open up some windows & air out the house! That would be WONDERFUL!! Right now, it's only 36 degrees.

The clouds in a couple of the photos are so beautiful, Toni.

Can't imagine going sockless in 10-degree weather.
