Greetings,
I've noticed a few discrepancies in the database at the species/variety/form level. I'm asking for your input as to the source database for review, non-cultivar level entries. The Plant list seems to be the largest and primarily references Kews WCSPF.

ITIS seems less complete: http://www.itis.gov/servlet/Si...

ATP database: http://garden.org/plants/brows...

I've cross posted this request to the Orchids forum and requested all comments be posted here.

ITIS is less complete because it only covers species that occur in North America and there are several species of Cypripedium that are native to Eurasia. ITIS does seem to be more current than The Plant List or Kew so I tend to favor following ITIS for North American plants and follow The Plant List for the rest.

Glad you brought this up, Evan. I was looking at the Cypripedium database this morning and thinking it needed to be cleaned up a bit. Yellow Lady's Slipper, in particular, has gone through several reclassifications over the years so obsolete names are common.

I usually consult the Kew Plant list for whatever I am looking up.

Thanks Kent and Ursula, I'll review the species based on The Plant List/Kew with the exception of North American species using ITIS. When done I'll post here for you to double check. Green Grin!

Done! I noticed Kew WCSP has changes not yet reflected at The Plant List. I haven't made these changes.
